I can't believe the Richmond Police had nothing better to do on the 4th of July in Byrd Park, where fireworks are shot off every year...than to harass this innocent woman and her 7 year old daughter.....

Unless you are singing in unison... (IN ENGISH ONLY), "The Star Spangled Banner", and applauding ONLY,
AMERICAN HEROS, (preferably ones' wearing an American uniform), you may as well just shut up and go live in...China... or elsewhere. THERE REALLY IS NOTHING AT ALL TO BE SAID, from sea to shining sea, except, "GOD BLESS AMERICA".

Outrageous, and now no one knows who in the parks department made the call to the police. I looked at the statute and it requires a permit. A way to control freedom to protest is to refuse to approve a permit. In this case, the woman and her young daughter should have been left alone even though they had no permit since there was no disturbance. It could have been worse. They could have arrested her and turned her daughter over to child protective services.

Impeach Bush and Cheney NOW. They are our enemies. They are the enemies of any freedom loving American and should be kept in sight until they are removed from power here as soon as possible, the war ended and the troops brought home to their families alive and well. Noted

Put Your Name in the Congressional Record in Support of Impeachment

Rep. Dennis Kucinich wants to put the name of everyone who supports Dick Cheney's impeachment in the Congressional Record!

The Congressional Record is the official record of the proceedings and debates of the United States Congress. It is published daily when Congress is in session and is fully searchable.
Every day that Congress is in session, Rep. Kucinich will submit 5 single-spaced pages of names with states, which is the daily limit under House rules. To be included, all you need to do is submit this petition.
http://www.democrats.com/impeach-cheney-congressional-record
This proposal came about on Thursday when representatives of Democrats.com and ImpeachforPeace.org spent the day on Capitol Hill meeting with Congress Members and their staffers. ImpeachforPeace.org has collected hand-written memorials in support of impeachment, following a precedent detailed in the Jefferson Manual. The individuals who have submitted these memorials will also have their names entered into the Congressional Record.
Our lobbying efforts found Congress edging closer and closer to impeachment. Congressional offices expressed growing awareness of citizen demand for impeachment - and citizen dissatisfaction with steps short of impeachment, such as issuing more disregarded subpoenas or passing meaningless censure resolutions.

Let Congress know you want nothing short of Impeachment. Be a part of history:

Ein Volk, Ein Reich, Ein Fuhrer. People tend to think I'm exaggerating when I say we live in a police state where dissent is not allowed. This story proves me right.

I'm so surprised! Bring in the police/military. I can't really believe that American citizens sit there and just put up with this trash. They both, B/C, need to be removed from such powerful positions. Who's running this nation anyway?? Last time I checked it said, "We the people, for the people. . ." Ditto Jennie B. and Just Me Cat.

Definately a number of violations by the police. I agree that the bigger problem though is the current administration and their attempt to control the people.

Concerned Scientist, you may have something there. Our govt. has been eroding rights and becoming more secretive ever since our entry into WWII. Worth looking into. Thank you, and thanks to Phyllis for posting this news story.

Really Karen, it hasn't been "We the people" for some time. Currently it is Dick Cheney and I believe he is the worst yet.

I agree with you Karen, we do need to remove this administration, and I am truly afraid that isn't going to happen. They should never have been in this position. Initially, Bush wasn't elected, he was selected. The second time the election was crooked and rigged.

So much has not been brought to light and probably never will. We have so many people that really don't pay attention or don't care as long as they are making money. It is a false financial security that will collapse and then whoever is in office at that time will get blamed.

Dick Cheney is a very smart man and he is well aware of who his friends are. He owes a lot to the people that took him from a college drop out with a drinking problem to the place he is now. He is very loyal to them and his agenda is and always will be to look after himself and his friends.

Goodness. This is a far different country than during the Vietnam war when protesters held sit-ins and other disruptive tactics. Now, people can't even unfurl banners or sell anti-Bush buttons without harassment from the authorities. Since Bush and Bunch have repeatedly demonstrated their disdain for us citizens and our rights, the authorities in most communities feel free to stifle free speech and stomp on the First Amendment. They know they can do so with impunity since the nation's "highest" branch of authority would heartily approve. What a sad state of affairs for us all.

Get a visual of this>>>>
Christine Dorsey said several officers in cruisers, with lights flashing and sirens tweaking, and officers on horseback were traveling at speeds that seemed dangerously high given the large crowds in the park.

Over a sign?

On both sides of the pond the bullies in insecure Governments are trying to curtail the right of any person to protest. Over there you have this bit of Nazi stupidicy and over here we have the baming of the Heathrow protest.

How come the FREE WORLD sold out to these control freaks?

More important how can we get rid of them before the destroy everything?

Roseann, I'm just catching up on stuff and saw your post. Frankly I think Cheney and Bush love America, so much that they want to own it and stay in power forever. The problem for me is, how do WE continue to love it knowing all this?

IF WE ALL PROTESTED EVERY CHANCE WE GOT, COULD THEY ARREST US ALL???
Everybody, wear orange on Fridays, WEAR THE BUTTONS AND THE T-SHIRTS THAT GOT OTHER PEOPLE ARRESTED. PUT A SIGN IN YOUR WINDOW AGAINST THE WAR; A SIGN ON YOUR CAR; A SIGN ON YOUR FRONT PORCH; A SIGN IN YOUR YARD.
Ok, some people have to work and can't afford to do this; but others of us CAN. BE AS VISIBLE AS YOU POSSIBLY CAN BE. I wear my "Impeach Bush" button, except when I work!!!
They are trying to INTIMIDATE us: DON'T LET THEM!!!
"Northern Lights" is the name of one site you can google and go to, to get anti-war, anti-Bush signs and buttons and T-shirts and posters and bumper stickers and such.
"Code Pink" is another.
Free Speech: USE IT OR LOSE IT.

Noted! Someone should tell the Richmond police department that it is not only our right to question our political leaders(?) but it is also our duty to do so. I use the word leaders to make a point because as far as I am concerned, the present administration has led us absolutely no where but to a no win situation in a war we never should have gotten into in the first place!
