I love the swift fox. We have them in Colorado. I worked on a population study one summer - live trapping, ear tagging and collaring the little guys. I even got bit by one and had to get rabies shots! He was not rabid, but, since I was working with the Division of Wildlife it was work comp and they made me get the shots. The fox was collared so we knew it could be tracked, and I hate needles, but, I had to get them.. Yuck. They are not like they used to be, they are given in the hip, but I had to get five of them at longer weeky intervals. This fox is reallly neat - I enjoyed working with them (not the rabies shots), but they were fun and interesting. We discovered we have a good population in Colorado. I hope they don't disappear from Canada or anywhere else.

Cute little critter! We used to have a different type of fox in our canyon where I live, sadly in came the people and houses and those bushey tailed foxes were no more! Now just Rats and Gophers. Rats (MAN) Gophers (Go for this and Go for that Politicans)

Maggie, you sure got lucky to be up close and personal with these fellas! Sorry you got bit and the rabies shots must of be quite painful!
