"This Is Just The Beginning" Forest Fires, Deadly Storms, Record Heat Reveal A Changed Climate

More than 2,000 heat records have been broken in the past week. As the words "extreme weather" flash across TV screens, where are the other two words: "global warming"? We're going to be seeing a lot more weather like this, it is just the beginning.

This is going to be the worst year ever I fear. Just the Beginning is RIGHT!

Prayers for all of the creatures that are in the path, humans normally have time to get out, but shaking my head ~ already in the high 80's here, some places 100's and this is only the start of the hot season!

Dande, that photo hits me hard remember seeing it here in So. Calif up close and personal with friends fleeing for their lives, and all of the animals stuck in the path...Never will forget the burned horses and other animals that were treated, and those were the ones that were saved.

So many in danger right now. Colorado and other areas!

Thanks for posting! xx Going to be a ton of news on this coming this summer with a TON of damage and deaths!

AND there are still no brains who do not believe in climate change even when it falls in their laps. AND guess what - they are Repugs! I live in Colorado - they also need to keep people from building deeper into the mountains and closer and closer together! Our forests are unhealthy - forest ecology depends on fire to cleanse it! AND, all the firefighters do is protect structures! Really stupid, a minority of rich people who feel entitled and we spend millions protecting their property! This IS becoming an issue. I hope something comes out of it!

You don't have to be a scientist to KNOW there have been definite changes in the climate on a worldwide scale. But it should be a criminal act punishable by imprisonment for politicians, lobbyists and the press to propagate the untruth that there is no truth behind global warming, the greenhouse effect, the changing ocean currents, etc. Thanks for posting, Dandelion.

The climate change is so obvious and still have people out there not smart enough to know that. They are the ones who are holding us back from being prepared. They are in Congress, they are Tbagger/Republicans. Now that it is starting to affect them, maybe they will see what they were being warned about, and refusing to prepare for, is now coming to pass and may destroy us; they are waking up a little late for the game, after refusing to do any preparation for it. Thanks for the posting, my friend.

My daughter lives in Colorado Springs, I spent last week-end monitoring YouTube videos of the fires. She is safe and so is her apartment; many neighbors, however were not so lucky, and now they are also finding bodies in the burned homes. How sad that we are caught unprepared. People in forested parts of the country should clear areas around their homes of trees, but when the fire is that big, it may not be enough.

That is a fact about the weather Barbara, even the Olagarchy can't escape that fact. Is what has always been amazing me, is that they see only $$ signs that they actually condemn their own offspring to a world of this destruction.

I am pleased to hear your daughter is ok, but it must be frightening for her, not knowing how things would go. I also know one gets little pleasure to have been spared while their friends and neighbors loose all they had. I'm sorry to learn they are finding bodies, but it doesn't surprise me when the fires are this large and so intense.

Here in the UK we're having our wettest Summer ever. All part of the same pattern, I imagine.

Indeed while some have too much rain others are not getting rain at all or too little.

Wow, if the weather patterns could just be spread around the globe as it used to be. Where I am, there has been no rain for 2 months or more. There has been rain to our north and to our south, but this strip has been missing out on the rain (SW Michigan). The grass and even weeds are dying. Deer and other animals are coming to our yards in search of food. Even they are suffering. I keep filling the birdbath as they are getting drinks of water from that. Really cute to watch the deer and fawns drink from a birdbath. Thank you for your kind words, Dandelion. She said that it has let up enough now that the air they are exhaling is once again clear. The smoke was choking her and making her cough. It is a nightmare there. We knew it was coming, but were powerless to stop it without government help to take steps to prepare people and make sure our power grids were full force and the water is clean and promote more wind and solar energy. We will be looking at a food shortage due to weather anomolies too. Beginning to wonder about the Mayan calendar.

I had placed a story on a couple months back that explained the power that entities like Exxon have and is the reason we have not moved faster towards solar, wind, algea and other alternatives and cleaner safer ways to gain energy. I'll place the link here if anyone wants to view the video that was on Rachel Maddow's show.

We can no longer wait for our so-called elected officials (read that as dumba$$es) to fix this problem. It has already gone pat the point of no return. Scientists told them that and they refuse to listen...maybe that is why they have decided, in their infinite stupidity, to let all the oil and gas companies to go hogwild and drill eveywhere. They KNO we are past the help marker and will not tell us. We already know it in our instinctual selves, in our very cells. So I say this to everyone.....we do not and cannot wait for these geniuses to do anything, because they are NOT going to do anything to help anyone ther than the elites. WE MUST DO IT FOR OURSELVES NOW. Do what yo need to so to try to surive. Build catchwater devices, plant gardens, re-learn how to save seeds for next planting, re-learn how to preserve your bonty, if you can afford to -- buid your own solar panels and install them, if you can afford it -- get an all electric or hybrid car (Volts will do! so will Smart Cars), build a root cellar in your back yard, for those who still eat animal protein, build your own chicken coop or rabbit hutches. Re-learn how to process your own meat sources. Etc, etc, etc. The knowledge to do all these things is already out there on the web and, GASP, in BOOKS, you know, those printed and bound things we used to read!. USE IT to save your own families and those of your neighbors who cannot do it for themselves. Seek out, listen and learn from those who are still around who made it through the Great Depression. They are a wealth of knowledge -- tap it.

Like the GOPers, Teabaggers and Convenient Xtians are so fond of pointing are on your own. I don't expect our govt to do anything for anyone but themselves from this point on and we already depend on ourselves for alot of things within our family. In the end, it will be every one for themselves because there will be no government knight in shining armor to come and save the planet. It is all up to us now.

any intelligent person not living under a rock for the last three decades should know what is happening.
We have been foretold, warned, public service announcement of the kindest type have been given.
Shame people think they can turn a deaf ear, there will be NOWHERE TO HIDE. The sooner we all come to terms with this FACT!, the sooner we can work on a better future if it's not too late.
As always with love, thanks and respect ,dear Dandelion.

Nothing new. Very grateeful that so many men, women, and children were kept safe through the dangers and are or have laready started new lives. Wish that many more men, women and children will be kept safe through the changes that the earth is going through -- and continue thier lives on earth. Also, wish that the rescue and warning systems would multiply to get people away from dangerous areas before the disastor happens -- before the earthqauke, before the volcano, before the mudslide, before the fire -- that the rescue teams will get he men, women, and children -- with their pets, animals and meds and supplements out of the areas that are going through earth changes.

I agree with Mm M about prayers for creatures in the paths of these catastrophes. Today is the 10th day of 100+ here. (Today it is just now dropping from 106.) I'm old and grew up without air conditioning so am surviviving well with the fan. But the rabbits and squirrels outside are just dragging (or worse!).

Those idiots who claim the climate is not changing are, well--idiots.

We must reduce our climate changing emissions significantly and quickly. To achieve this currently, we need to eat much less meat and drive much less - go car-free if you can.

There is no climate change. It's all only unrelated weather events.
And if climate would be changing, it certainly couldn't be caused by US.
And if it were man-made, we couldn't do anything about it anyway.
greetings from AT, where we recently experienced the hottest (in the city and in the countryside and up on mountains) ever-recorded June-day.

The beginning is right...the beginning of the end. Even with all these proof positive events there are still those poor souls that refuse to acknowlegde that climate change is real and is happening before our very eyes. They'd rather live in a perpetual state of indifference and denial and cling to their environmental hating, science doubting, money grubbing pro-corporate elitist ways. Thanks Dandelion.

It is not us who have waited-it is all the oil, coal, etc. "owned" politicians, paid for climate change deniers and faux news behind this. It is greed behind this. Most of us here have done as much as we can to fight against it-but none of us are wealthy so while we have had some success not nearly as much as we should. We just went through some pretty horrible storms with more to come here in WV along with several other states. Just got power yesterday and now more major storms tonight expected. We have had so many records broken just this week and people still aren't copping much of a clue. Sigh...............

Dandelion, I agree with my learnered memebers.
The government has let us down!
No pre-cautions, no planning, no alternatives for assistance for the
elderly and sickly, no monies alocated for disaster relief.
The government has had advanced knowledge of the situation since
Carl Sagan informed us of the whole in the Ozone layer. They refused to
prepare. Seems we are all on our own for this ultimate disaster.
