Mitt Romney on Taxes: "You're Going To Have To Take My Word For It" Trust Me

Rachel Maddow at her best and she really ties all this together. If you haven't seen this piece from her show this is a must see. I would say there are many questions that need answers before the American people should just "trust you." Good guest as well

I chose the photo for this news as I thought it was perfect. You certainly can ask, but don't expect an answer. Do stick with this video, Rachel Maddow at her best. She really does a great job asking the right questions and leads you through the process as to why those questions are important.

Trust me? When is the last time any one believed a politician or any one for that matter, that says "Trust me"? Pullleassse! Is he selling us a used car or his Dressage horse?

I saw this on Rachel last night as well. Thanks Dandelion, gotta say Willard does give us plenty to laugh about. But....if we don't get out and VOTE, he may be the next president. Now I need to vomit, just the thought of that made me sick.

"You're going to HAVE to take my word for it." Why should we take your word for anything, Gov. Sketchy? You certainly do not have a good track record for truthfulness or consistency.

And Mitt Romney would be better? I'll take the lessor of two evils. Frankly, I wish more people knew about my Candidate of choice and would get enough grassroots movement behind him as he too is running for President.
He is not taking the millions from the Corporate donors and has limited his donation monies to $100 per person or Corporation, that way no one owns him or his Party.
If you are still not happy with either Candidate, check out Rocky Anderson of the Justice Party, on the Anderson/ Rodriquez ticket.

I hope people are really watching this video, Rachel is really narrowing Mitt in on this one, boxing him right into a corner. This is the best report I've read or seen yet on Mitt, his taxes, Bain, and his physical locations that may be tax fraud, in fact there are several places that tax fraud may exist.

If it were you or I missing on paying $10 on our taxes, wow, they'd be at the door. Yet these rich ones, they feel they can sneak in all sorts of things, is bad enough a lot of it is legal to do, but did he do it all legally, that is the question. As I said, if you haven't watched this take the time.

I know a lot of us are feeling we can't trust him, but have your facts, you will be asked by the Republicans, so know what you are speaking of and Rachel lays it out clearly.

Willard reminds me of a lousy magician with both hands behind his back, selectively pulling out one hand and opening it to show you there's nothing there....while keeping the other behind his back, then placing both behind his back again before showing there's nothing in the "other" hand. Thanks for posting, usual, Rachel explains things succinctly and factually.

Thanks Dandelion, I watch Rachel every night she is on, Mittens is a lying S.O.B, Willard said if we didn't like his plan then we should vote for the other guy that is only the advice I will take from him, I will vote for the other guy gladly.

We have to show the IRS what we make, if he wants them to see mine, I want to see his. Or didn't he learn that in kindergarten behind the school. Maybe he has his tax returns wrapped up in temple garments where they are nice and safe.

Romney isn't even a creative liar. I wish he would come on Rachel Maddow. Watching this, for some reason I remembered Tim Geither being questionned by the Senate Finance Committee a couple of years ago, for underpaying his income tax. He blamed it on the fact that he did his own taxes with Turbo Tax! Romney is totally lacking imagination, I think. Thnks for th post,Dandelion. We need to badger Romney relentlessly.

Susanne R (235)
Friday August 3, 2012, 11:02 pm
I used to think that Mitt was just a rich and privileged man who expected that things should go his way because he had achieved that status. Now he's starting to scare me! I see a pattern of covering up lies by changing history. He RETROACTIVELY resigned from Bain Capital in 1999 when questions were raised about his involvement in the outsourcing that was done by that company. Now he's RETROACTIVELY changing his tax statements to reflect that he was a resident of Massachusetts, when he actually lived in Utah, to meet the residency requirements for his Governorship of that state.

Responding to legitimate questions and concerns with remarks like, "You'll have to trust me on this," or "You'll have to take my word for it," is not enough. I don't trust him, and I don't take him on his word on anything at this point. A man of presidential caliber doesn't cheat the tax man and then blame it on "a clerk at the assessor's office" or his tax people or being too busy or important to read what he signs. Any businessman worth his salt READS a document before he lends his signature to it. I'm afraid that Mitt is used to having things go his way, and if they don't, to making them go his way. This is very disturbing.

Thanks for posting this, Dandelion. Since this man might end up being our president (Lord help us), this information is very important. If that should happen, he shouldn't have any objection to voters "retroactively" unelecting him. Let's face it, he's the poster boy for "retroaction"!

Judy C (97)

"Retroactive Romney". That has a nice ring to it, Susanne.

Friday August 3, 2012, 11:59 pm
From your description Dandelion, this is that tape of Rachel's show that I watched this morning on TomCat's blog. Rachel was awesome in outlining the perfidy of Rmoney. The lies and deceit --- running for the governor's chair in Massachusetts which requires a 7 year residency and saying that his tax returns would bear that up! Yeh right. He filed as living in Utah and supposedly retroactively changed his residence to Massachusetts. Probably just like he retroactively left Bain Capital.

The idiot has so many skeletons in his closet that I can't see how he is fit to be POTUS. Trust is earned and so far all I have seen is only worthy of distrust.

Vote Democratic 2012!!!!! Vote Obama/Biden 2012!!!!!

Thanx Dandelion for posting this. I I really appreciate Rachel's show and am thankful to watch it online often..
Romney is a frightening man...slippery...devious....deceptive....selfish.......immature/arrested development....
I'm not saying this to be unkind...It's that he is a scary person and I sure hope he is never in charge of the leadership here.

Sheryl G (363)
Saturday August 4, 2012, 6:26 am
Exactly Susanne, it is more than him just being rich and thinking he is above it all. This is why I feel this piece is a very important video, and how Rachel lays it all out. He has no qualms about anything, he is just a man that feels he can do what he wants when he wants to and breaks the law, then when his hand is caught in the cookie jar, he either wasn't aware, places blame at someone else's feet, or as you say, when all else doesn't work, retroactive it all. Not many get to un-ring their bells....he does.

So ok, isn't fair, he isn't nice, in every since of the word I think he is a spoiled rich brat use to having his way. If he wasn't going to be the head of this Country, that would be despicable enough. However do we want this man representing this Country. Do we not have enough gaffs we are dealing with from other things that has been done in our name. Could we trust him with anything concerning our Country, and if he was caught, he'd the script? Stand on National Tv and tell everyone what they saw they really didn't.

If the Republican Party was worth their salt they would be demanding his coming clean so that they knew who he was on all legalities. This is like kids in the playground, covering up for the bully, because he said so, instead of them saying, no you did it and we are not taking the blame for you and your actions. But we can see that far too many in Washington play the game, no matter how dastardly it is, as long as it benefits them.

So keep on your toes people. Be you a Republican or Democrat or other Party.....remember, you are all Human Beings first and Americans. Party loyalty to liars will bring this Country into a new low, is bad enough to have had years of poor choices in policies by both parties in my opinion, for their political gain, financial gain, or perhaps they truly believed in what they had signed in, but to have an actual proven liar at the head of the Country, that is a whole new cup of tea.

I watched the whole thing..Thx Dandelion...I never watch NBC, but you can be sure i will start watching Rachel. Shes a smart cookie and I love her attitude...
Now about Romney..GOOD GOD, WTF??? WHY Isnt he in jail by pains & penalties of perjury?????? SO you have money to CHANGE your history and so its all good? R U KIDDING ME?????? Were screwed either way...I saw a video on some of the health care law yesterday, and yes, people will get health care, MAYBE, IF, they allow it and it WILL be rationed and controlled WHILE Congress has their own plan. (Isnt there a 28th amendment somewhere?)..anyhow so now between these 2 we have a liar and a cheat and dictator who apologizes for his country who may not even be a real citizen. HOW they even get in to run with out this proof and with all the lies shows money rules all.
I believe God is running the show, so no matter what we do, whats gonna happen is gonna happen. Basically we are SCREWED til Jesus comes and stops it all. I REALLY hope its sooner than later. (Just my personal opinion).....

Friday night Rachel was point on again. Romney has never in what nearly 20 years of running for office ever released more tax returns than now, EXCEPT that he gave 23 years of returns to the McCain campaign to run as VP. Sorry Willard 'The Rat' but you are no longer a private citizen, have not been one for all the years of political campaigning, you want the office, we want all the 23 years you gave McCain plus the last 4.

James Travers (6)
Saturday August 4, 2012, 7:53 am
Ya know Gina, I hope you do start watching Rachel. Maybe she can erase some of those stale GOP talking points from your subconscious. The birther stuff and the rationed health care is really a tired bunch of corporate lies. In addition to Rachel I suggest you find the Michael Moore movie called Sicko which will show you how REAL health care should be done.
As for apologizing for this country, I add my apologies to Obama's (who I don't care for but agree with Sheryl is the lessor of two evils). Patriotism does not mean never having to say you're sorry. The United States has done a LOT of things to apologize to the rest of the world about.

Scarlett said :God help us if obama is in Mitt view that would more or less be Joseph Smith Scarlett. You obviously know nothing about the man you support, in my opinion...just that teabaggers must get behind their GOP candidate ...hold onto their lies/myths about Obama.....nothing beyond that about this man Romney..not his politics, his business dealing, his enormours amount of cash hidden in away in foreign banks ....and that he hasn't paid taxes in ten years..nor about his religion/beliefs etc.

I trust this guy as much as I did Cheney...which was and still is less than zero !

Sheryl G (363)
Saturday August 4, 2012, 12:21 pm
Yes, I was thinking the same when Scarlett, who preaches biblical on C2 a lot, would think Romney was her pick. If she doesn't like Obama, who has stated he believes in the same God she does, she might want to look to a 3rd Party.

I'd say, no matter what your faith or if you choose none at all, that unless you are financially up in the top tier of this Country, then you are slicing your own throat. Perhaps Scarlett is, the porn star Jenna Jameson is supporting Mitt Romney, for she said, "When you're rich you want a Republican in Office"...and that is despite the fact that Mitt has stated he'd like to have installed filters on computers to stop porn from being seen. But, hey, she's made her $30 million, what does she care now.

As with so many of them that get theirs, I got mine, but who cares about you. I'm not an advocate of porn, but it is the same logic that some of the other Republicans have run on, that in the past they took the farm subsidies, the unemployment checks, all the tax breaks that they helped to push in for themselves, but don't want anyone else to get a no no, we got ours....screw you.

Big media needs to do some in-depth interviews with Rmoney; the sooner the better. We do not know much about him. He says he will create jobs--yes, indeed. The jobs he will create will pay $7/hour which probably qualify one for food stamps, but oops! There will be no food stamps when the neo-con ReTHUGnicans take total control of the country. Yikes.

Willard---that IS his real name...even THAT he doesn't admit to. Mitt er, Willard please pull a bunch more gaffs that will make people more aware of your idiocies. (is that a word? lol) I wish their were ads by the Dems that called him Willard all of the time. Rev. Al Sharpton always calls him Willard. The Republicans want in at ANY cost. including supporting Willard whom they do not like!!! It's proved anyhow that Congress is who calls all the shots in Washington. I pray the most intense, sincere prayers that Willard doesn't get in. Our country, our poor, our middle class, our students, WOMEN will all pay such a high price. Everything will be done on the backs of those listed. They have tried their hardest to destroy Barack Obama the man much more than Barack Obama the President. WHY?!... Is the party racist? In my opinion he and his family are wonderfully, warm and caring people, not to mention intelligent. I just do not get it.

Shar F. and all....the Repubs want the minimum wage to go away. They say it is hurting the small business man. SEVEN TWENTY FIVE an hour. That is a starvation wage even for a single person these days. They expect food prises to rise $60 to $85 this coming year because of the droughts. Of which the Repubs do not believe that we are responsible at all for...the global warming. How ?@#&?? proof do they need? They do absolutely ALL of their thinking around, "What will it do for business?" If it drops them a nickel, vote it out, no matter the cost to humanity, our world, our country, our health, our safety. if it's a reglation they believe it must go. What would our country be w/o regulations??? Scary to think of, isn't it??

Rachel Maddow is a Rhodes scholar. That is one smart, AND direct cookie! For her a spade is not just a is something much more in depth than simply a spade! Her and her staff are absolute pros at digging up facts. Then the way she presents those facts will make the brightest people listen, and bring laughs as well. SHE IS THE BEST! and she is gay. Imagine that. A wonderful, bright, funny, successful
person....and gay. She has a very lucky partner. GO RACHEL!!!!

Good comments Karen, thanks for dropping by. Indeed I think we are ALL to be grateful for an intelligent woman like Rachel Maddow that also has a good heart. Her staff is her backbone and wonderful team they make. She is not only reaching the brighter among us, but I think she can bring in those who are less sophisticated politically to come to an understanding. She brings up her facts, that anyone can also prove or disprove themselves. We need a lot of Rachels....she gives me hope.
