Barbara, I have been paying attention to Michigan, as well as other places and I don't understand how this is being allowed. Where are our protections? When the women were forced out, where is the authority to say that they are duly elected you can't do that? I watched a vote being taken, they supposedly sight counted the hands in seconds, there was no way one could of visually counted the hands that quickly, and of course the vote went the way the R's wanted it to go.

It appears we have no protections, no recourse, elections rigged, and the acts of take over that use to be covered are now being boldly done in the light of day, yet still nothing is done about it, no one is protecting anyone. I have felt for some time now, that if these actions continue on, that there is going to be little left of anything that we knew and it will then be up to the people if this is how and what they want to live with or will they rise up to change it.

It is not looking like doing this peacefully and with votes is working so well when the police pepper spray and club the peaceful citizens who are exercising their right to dissent and the election system is rigged. When we have the courts sold out, when our reprsentatives pass bills taking more rights away, that leaves little choice for the citizens if they can't peacefully protest and can't depend on their electoral process. We become no better than other places who have had Dictators. We are up in age now Barbara, we do what we can by the pen, by educating, but it will be up to the youth to determine what type of Country they want to live in. If they can't gain it peacefully it will be either live with it or don't.

“If you make peaceful revolution impossible you make violent revolution inevitable” John F. Kennedy

Thanks Dandelion, there is an insidious takeover of our rights and the government, not so blatant as our "presidential elections", but to go state by state and destroy our rights and unions, it is a dangerous tactic that appears to be working! the Kochs are omni-political and a clear and present danger!!!

Petition signed.

The GOP Pukes must reverse the "Right to Work" legislation immediately. The voters must recall all of these people who rammed this atrocious bill through legislation without due process, feedback and through the public.

Ty, Dandelion.

Signed both petitions. Chris Matthews mentioned this on Hardball tonight, but I didn't realize how bad things were in Michigan with their tea party governor, Rick Snyder, until I read Barbara's post. Any chance he can be recalled? Even though Wisconsin didn't manage to boot Walker out of office, they did raise quite an awareness of the disaster that calls itself the tea party.

Thanks for posting this, Dandelion!

"It’s particularly unfortunate that with a bill that probably has the highest public policy impact of any that we’ve debated here in the last 50 years, the other side didn’t have the common courtesy or the guts to allow the public to hear what they were doing.

No committee hearings.

No opportunity to debate amendments.

No public input.

Republican staffers in the gallery taking up seats so that taxpayers who traveled from across the state to get here are locked out."

Signs as the state borders will have to be changed to "Welcome to the Totalitarian Régime of Snyderstan (formerly Michigan)" Well done Dillon for calling out the state Republican/Teabaggers for the thugs and usurpers of democracy that they are.

Both petitions signed gladly.

In Canada, the freedom of association (freedom to form or participate in a union) is in the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. It is hard to conceive of not having that right.

Elvia, as I had stated when I posted this story and sent it around to those that were connected to me, this type of action would be wrong no matter which of the two Parties were doing it.

That you would not see that your own Democracy is threatened is very sad. If this is allowed to be, then if the shoe ever gets onto the other foot, I'm sure that you wouldn't want polices from the other Party crammed down your throat without a chance for public airing and debate.

Just so happens that the GOP are the ones doing it this time but it is wrong; wrong wrong wrong be it any Party. I'm a life long registered Independent and believe me I would be still posting this if the Democrats had done it.

Thanx so much for posting this Dandelion.. I've been following this story on MSNBC on the internet...I was so delighted (!!!) to hear Brandon Dillon's passionate oration and I hope it woke a few people up or at least made them feel uncomfortable, edgy, or guilty about the shameful, undemocratic, and sneaky cowardly actions that have now been forced upon the people of the state of Michigan... Hopefully the outcry will be so great and long lasting that something will have to be done about this injustice.
We need to be vigilant and guard against these abuses of our freedoms. We must demand our elected officials act in honesty, transparency, and with our best interests in mind. That is why we elect them. To speak For us.
I signed the petition on the right Dandelion, but couldn't find a petition at the top of the page.......

Thanx Dandelion I got your comment in my e-mails. Hope this gross mis-use of power can be stopped in it's tracks from spreading even further... When are elections held for Gov again in Michigan? Perhaps this Brandon Dillon might think about running..?
