People are proving that 100% renewable energy is not a fantasy for someday, but a reality today. Each of us is part of the problem of dependence on fossil and nuclear energy and each of us can also be part of the solution. Lets Do It!

Nuclear energy is less bad than dirty fossil (like the tar sands oil and fracked shale oil) I would prefer to see more 5th generation nuclear plants than the Keystone Pipeline. Ideally we should have neither, but don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good.

From the website:

Campaign Strategy:

Connect and expand the coalition of the willing who wish to strive for and achieve 100% renewable energy in the power, heating/cooling, and transportation sectors or who are already doing so.

Inspire change by visualizing and advocating for the 100% renewable energy future a future that is already happening now in many locations throughout the world.

Strengthen platforms for exchanging knowledge about how to successfully achieve 100% renewable energy.

Build capacity and improve understanding among key stakeholders on specifically how to overcome barriers to reaching 100% renewable energy - including meeting technical, economic, and policy challenges.

We are all in a position to contribute to the needed change in various ways. This is a great website, and the video is very encouraging. The more people into the solution, the better. We're in a great position here at Care2 to spread important information. Thanks for sharing this, Dandelion.

For all those that continue to deny the effects of fossil fuels on our environment and climate change, Arkansas had 5 inches of snow yesterday, the first time since they started recording weather events in 1819

I recall reading that Australia had to add another color to it's heat chart, it went above what they are use to having.

Sometimes I think that we are all too willing to say 'someone should do something .', whilst in part this is true, there are things that only Governments can do, there is still a lot we can do as individuals. We live in England, not the sunniest place in the world, but the solar panels we had fitted to our property produce 41% of our electricity; we recycle 80% of our waste, mainly through the services provided by our local Government. Food waste, which they cannot take due to hygiene concerns, we take to the local animal sanctuary, pigs love scraps! If we all did just a little bit more it would make a big difference.

Bless all who love Mother Earth--they won't let me send you any more stars Dandelion--thank you for the great work you do here. When it comes down to the brass tacks--the Government needs to realize the health and welfare of Mother Earth and her inhabitants is more important than lining their pockets. Sad to say that if anyone has the backbone to stand up to them--they find a way to get rid of them. Everything is all about them and no one else. Where is the duct tape? I need it for my mouth-hahahaha--got to stop there.

No need for duct tape when words of Truth are spoken. You are so correct Howard. I've been carrying my own sacks or bags for around 35 years now, a very simple thing to do. Yet, here I am 35 years later and I see only an occassional person using their own bags. Every plastic bag that they continue to use is adding to the environmental mess. This is just one thing I've mentioned out of the many things we all could do and as it was written by Howard, ways he is helping to be part of the solution. So we can speak of grand plans, but each must do what they can where they can to contribute to the solution.

When you are proceeding with small steps in everyday life start going for the bigger goals. Then the real biggies.
This is what that could look like- meet Kronprinzenkoog (Germy.) the 5000% Renewable Town
I had a closer look at the website and this caught my eye -you SHOULD also have a look!

I have discussed this topic previously with Kit and she quickly spotted our "trick", the success recipe: we introduced a feed-in tariff early on, the US would also need to do so in order to move forward successfully.
