Shot on the front lines and meeting spaces of the Occupy movement in NYC, Boston, and Washington, DC from the earliest days through the end of January 2012, American Autumn: an Occudoc is an inside looking out view of the occupy movement.

This is what we need, about three orders of magnitude larger. The United States has turned into a serious cluster[bleep] and is headed for disaster. So many things are wrong, very wrong, with our country: our screwed up "justice" system and privatized prisons, our failed war on drugs, our sickening health care system, Citizens United, and so on from here to the Pole of Inaccessibility. We need a coalition of progressive and pro-liberty groups to gather in one massive, unstoppable movement so we can restore government of the people, by the people and for the people. United we are far, far stronger than the 1% fat cats.

The people united will never be defeated!

Freya, you said it all. Unfortunately this is happening all over the world (Just as they say it in the video).
Our world is so corrupt, and the 1% is treading as as their slaves. We have to speak up, we have no choice.

People have to get out and vote, we have an opportunity to vote out those that keep protecting and perpetuating corporate welfare, but sadly the republicans will come out in force to vote while democrats and independents won't and those that didn't vote will complain about how nothing ever changes

I recall you doing that Deb. I was so proud to know someone who was there. Robert S. also of NYC was part of the Occupy Movement and kept us posted on what was taking place.

Yes, Edwin, people truly need to get off their duffs and head to the polls. Before they do they need to do some homework. Worse still are the people who haven't a clue who or what they are voting for. I'm tired of hearing people say I voted for a certain party because my Father did, or I counted the signs on the way and voted for the Candidate that had the most signs.

I wonder what Dennis, who made the movie and finished shooting over 2 years ago -! -would say TODAY ?
WHAT has been accomplished since? Can I just not see it or is there really zero??

As an outsider looking on, I have often thought perhaps the vaccination for being "the greatest nation on earth", given to them in the cradle, and the permanent repeats thereof all around them, may have turned many into masochists without even realising it. That "greatness" has come from wars for the most part, nothing to be proud of. Americans are NOT immune to hurt and evil done to them, and should be able to feel it by now as even a masochist can only take so much.

Noted. Thanks so much for posting, Dandelion! I've set aside time to watch tomorrow. I watched the livestreaming from the various cities worldwide during Occupy....till the website was shut down. Still getting regular emailings from Occupy. Many members have formed numerous grassroots groups focusing on various issues and are having many successes.....just to answer Angelika. They helped spread the word: "Banks got bailed out. We got sold out." I do agree that it would be great to have several thousand back in the streets.....

"I counted the signs on the way and voted for the Candidate that had the most signs." Never heard that before! It would make a lot more sense to vote for the one with the FEWEST signs, because that would correlate with the least dirty money, if you were going to do it on the basis of signs.

Noted and shared. Loved the video. It was really nice to see the truth. As someone who supported and felt somewhat informed about the movement, I feel now, after seeing this video, as though I knew very little. Sheryl, thank you so much for posting it.

This is an excellent Occupy production. We owe Occupy a lot. We need to see more of this group. I plan to contact Occupy CA to make a suggestion that we boycott Greedy Corporations for 2 days. We must hit their bottom line. Start with Walmart. Then shift services to another service in sufficient numbers that these companies know it was a deliberate message say to Verizon. Then boycott large food change say Safeway for a day. etc. We need to tweet to these stores and businesses that we will do it once or twice or three times until they get the message. We need to solicit unions, customers via social media until these greedy bastards know we can vote with our dollar. Thank You Sheryl Noted. I tried to purchase Doug Seegars Going Down to the River song through iTunes but couldn't. Terrific Song and Lots of Talent There.

Actually Ros this was a re-visit to the Occupy Movement that took place in the USA. It held a lot of information in it as to why the Movement started to begin with, it was a nice historical overview.

I hope the cyclone passed you by and that everyone is okay.

Sheryl G (360)
Monday March 17, 2014, 6:17 am
Glad you are okay Ros. This is how the Oligarchy does it. If you keep your mouth shut they just slowly squeeze the life out of you. If you start to speak out then the squeeze harder. Is how it was over here too with arrests and heavy fines.

Pepper spray, clubbing upon the non violent protestors, and out right mean tactics even when we are suppose to have the right to redress our Government. But when the Government is owned by the Oligarchy it becomes one and the same and as you say, too many keep voting against their own best interests, believing in the crap the Corporate Media plays out over and over again.

"Fascism should more properly be called Corporatism because it is the merger of State and Corporate power." Benito Mussolini

Sheryl G (360)
Monday March 17, 2014, 5:04 pm
You stated it perfectly Ros. It is mind control and they do keep us too busy to really catch on. Over here is why they are making it harder for the Elders to vote, they have more time to read. Can't have them voting, they might know something, plus they also recall a time when things were not so out of whack.

Honestly I'm glad I'm at the age I'm at as I hate to think how much more foolish this is all going to go. I do what I can in hopes I am making a bit of difference for my children and grandchild. Only reason I mentioned what I did is I knew you couldn't access the video so was just doing a brief summary......also that way others who also might not have the bandwidth would know what it was about as well.

Thank you again Dandelion. I just finally finished the movie (was traveling through countries so a bit busy).

I've been there too. From Portland to Iceland, to Frankfurt, to Porto, to Berlin, to London, and more (and I've marched against Monsanto twice in two different countries, and Guy Fawkes in London as well as for community schools in Portugal and spontaneously joined in solidarity for Turkey while in Germany and UK and many others in other cities for Syria and more). Frankfurt was the longest lived Occupy camp and still has lots of activity. Bloccupy in Bankfurt. :D This is definitely not just an American thing. Most of these corporations ruling over us are world concerns. In every country I've been in I see McDonalds and Nestle, and so many more including KFC, Pizza Hut, Coke, Pepsi, Burger King, Subway, even Pizza John's. Oh, and Marlboro. What happened to the true democracy in Iran? In 1953 British Petroleum convinced the western powers to stage a coup to protect its interests. We have to make different choices in what we do. I stopped shopping in Wal-Mart (though I had barely begun -- and there is a poignant story about that) over 17 years ago. It wasn't long after that I gave Safeway the boot too. I started with just one lime and changed everything I do. Now I am spreading my ways around the world, waking people up, getting them to think, just by living as an example, showing it can be done.

Okay, way more than I intended to write. I meant to say, we have to spread this film to as many people as we can, even on Facebook and Twitter which I both despise, and on C2 and in comments on other sites. It is inspiring and I am glad to see it for it gives me renewed strength. It is well done and I cannot thank the film maker enough.

In honor of you I will load up a recent bee pic. :)

Thank you for all you do.

Oh... oops on the photo. I thought I had it ready but now I remember the computer seized up on me while i was going through them this last time so it will have to wait for a couple days. My apologies. I will get it up asap tho. =]

Thank you Syd. It is a well made film and I'm glad some did appreciate the film makers efforts here. I'm not on FB nor Twitter, so I present what I can to C2 in hopes others will take things and spread them further along.

You are absolutely correct.....this isn't just an American problem. When we have 85 people who have as much wealth combined as the entire half of the population in the world or 3.5 Billion people; something is way out of whack.

Statistic after statistic bears this out, and with so few people having so much while at the same time so many are starving, in need of a safe place to lay their head down at night, or unable to keep warm, at the same time our Earth's resources are being depleted and our pollution increases, it is even more sinister.

By the way I miss our little Americana, the many Mom and Pop places one could dine in or stay in while they had traveled. Each town had it's own uniqueness, the local hardware store now being replaced by the big box one's like Lowe's, the roadside places to eat or stop replaced with the cookie cutter McDonald's, or Motel 6. It may be comforting on long road trips to have some familiar standard, but at least every town once had more a more Mom and Pop type places or eat. These are now replaced by Walmart and Burger King and the people who had once made their livings for life off of their little businesses now are working for low wages in those Corporate stores.

Okay on the photo, whenever you can it will still be appreciate. Stay safe in your travels and thank you for all that you do. We each can do something, we may be a drop but together we can make a mighty ocean. The first thing is getting the message out......allowing people to understand what is and has been happening. When they have a clear Vision of what has taken place then the People can move forward to a better Vision.

Thank you so much for putting this on. Our country has sold us out for corporate greed, money and power. Both Democrats and Republicans have sold us out, neither of them give a damn about us. There is no honor there anymore. I have voted 3rd party for quite some time now. Some say it is wasting your vote, well I see it as a protest vote, you know what they say the lesser of two evils is still evil. So I cannot in good conscience vote for anti American people who wan to make rules for us they don't have to go by, take away our rights while they keep theirs, this is not what America is supposed to be. Never be afraid to stand up for what is right and just.

Please check out Free & Equal and United We Stand and if you have the chance please watch Oliver Stone's Untold History of America.

I just wrote a long, heartfelt comment that just disappeared into thin air. I'm really sorry y'all will miss it because I think seeing this film is very important to renew our beliefs in what needs to be done in this country and I worked at encouraging everyone to really watch this, instead of just thanks but no thanks reactions. (I was kinder previously... now I'm angry that it was lost, so forgive me, please!)

Thank you, Dandelion. Bringing the purposes of the Occupy movement back into the light is so inspiring. We are lucky to have you here on C2. Thanks for your persistence in putting the word out that needs to be spread consistently until we can get some change in this ridiculous country we call "the richest country in the world"! If you count richness by dollars, perhaps it is so. I count richness by honor and kindness to our fellow human beings. To that measure, the government and corporations (same thing, actually) of America have failed greatly, IMO.
