Egypt is the second largest recipient of foreign aid from the United States in the world after Israel and continues to support the Egyptian regime regardless of the internal crisis. Yet human rights violations are committed in Egypt every single day.

Looks like a beautiful, constructed website, although the links to share are a bit hit-and-miss!

Thanks Dandelion.

I saw this woman, who did the blog, on a program. She had to disguise herself, so a different name, blurred face as she is in the USA trying to explain what is happening in Egypt. She is not certain what will become of her when she returns to Egypt, but she said she has to speak out.

It's an absolute shame and scandal that she has to conduct her life like this, all to say what she believes.

There will be no justice or equality while this kind of situation continues.

Politicians and extremists are the worst enemies of the ordinary people .....

How does one make the shift to "democracy" when a country has little experience of living in a democracy? In the West we think (or thought) we lived in a democracy but in recent years I'm not sure that what we have is full "democracy" as we have grown up believing in ...... So countries like Egypt aren't making the shift, they're moving from dominant group to dominant group, and the politicians are there for power & interests.

I'm not sure that most of ours are much better, but at least there is less tendency of the forces of law & order to act with total impunity in support of political interests. I say "less" ... not "no" ....

Hope for the future lies in "free thinking" of people like this blogger, but until there are structural changes, the dreams of a government FOR the PEOPLE's interest will remain dreams. Because we need people who care AND who have experience in free government who can lead these countries forward ... and who are strong enough to stand up to corruption, corporate interests. Without intervention of external powers - whose real driving interest is more economic than democratic.

Very depressing ...

But thanks for posting this link, Dandelion!

Though her courage is to be admired, respected, in awe of, I'm concerned, as she is, in re her future, especially if and when she returns to Egypt. Brave souls like her are required to move governments forward--political revolutions--obviously needing huge support and protection.. or it's lost--other than as a memory to many as to what should have been and what can still be. I really believe that most countries will join in the spirit of Bernie, should he become president. A global revolution is what this planet and all living need, in order to survive. There's a tenseness in the air. Many around the globe sense the "last chance" to attack the miasmic negative forces of the 1% that rules over them, destroying all but themselves. Bravo to the rare few who put themselves in the dangerous spotlight, representing the peacemakers, the meek, and the suppressed, victims of circumstance--- "We The People".

She is probably risking her life with these blogs. She is a brave woman. I had an Egyptian friend here on Care 2 that I interacted with frequently. I had one message after the overthrow of Morsi, have not heard from her since. I have been afraid to contact her incase that might get her in trouble.

When the USA props up these governments with arms and fails to speak out on the human rights abuses we become party to the oppression going on. Yes, we need someone like Bernie Sanders who understands we are all linked together in humanity. A man with integrity, compassion, and honesty.

Geez.....sorry about that everyone. I didn't get that when I went onto the site and it was from the television that I was told where to find her site. I certainly wouldn't post something like this had I known it was going to be like this.

Guess her page is being blocked to a lot of people or has been infiltrated.

I'm one of the authors on this website and the media collective "The Unheard Egypt", people are risking their lives in Egypt to make these websites available for you all. So much efforts for translation and writing. Your support is very appreciated and very much needed.

Thank you all so much for all of your support! We created a petition in order to raise awareness about the U.S military aid to Egypt and how it supports the oppression of the Egyptian people.
You can find it on my petition page.
I've been trying to write News here but for some reason it's not working, we are trying to let people know about the mobilization for IWD in Cairo, Egypt.

You are welcome, do what I can, and thanks for returning Unheard and asking to link with me on C2.

I'm afraid I'm unable to find that Petition you speak about. You could leave the link on this thread and I'll pass this story link around again so that more people can sign it. Thanks.

Also welcome to C2.
