This state needs a whole lot of wrongs making right and become a democracy where people can speak up and not be imprisoned or given the lash, where women can drive and not be locked away, they need to stop beheadings and being stoned to death, Saudi is a totalitarian state where the king's word is law and keeps its people suppressed and depressed.

Amazing what bastions of democracy can gloss over when the human rights abusing country in question has large reserves of oil ....

As Dr. Jill Stein has accurately and wisely observed, the way to stop terrorism, is to STARVE the supply of funds and weapons.

Dandelion G (373)

It seems like such a simple solution, and it is, but it doesn't make money for the ones who want to keep this all going. Just think how much petro an air fighter uses, a warship, while we cut back on driving our cars around a year's worth of our use is gone in one jet fighter in an hour. There is a lot of money to be made for some but it is pain and suffering for many.

Absolutely agree with you both, Birgit and Dandelion.

Imagine if toilet rolls became the world's most valuable commodity. People would be waging wars on people over toilet rolls. This is how inane it's got, that people wage wars on other people just because of envy of their efficacy in business, or the color of their skin, or the rich resource-lade land they inhabit.

There's NOT a single argument IN FAVOR OF War, anywhere in the world.

Just remember that the Saudis will soon be riding around in Canadian made personal carriers while using those American and British weapons. That contract was signed/finalized by the the current government. This is against government policies governing sale of these types to countries with questionable/poor human rights track records. As well policies stopping the sale of this type to governments with a history of using these types of vehicles against their own citizens. Trudeau LIED to Canadians when he said that this deal was signed by Harpers government and there was nothing he could do to stop it. This as well as other things happening ....or not happening is why he is slowly earning the moniker "Harper light"

Monday August 22, 2016, 5:18 pm
There have been several more petitions for this, have signed them all. Robert Naiman of Just Foreign Policy has been relentlessly petitioning on this mainly through congress in support of existing bills there to hold this illegal weapons sale thus being continously complicit in murder, human rights violations .
But instead of dropping this criminal "Ally" of murderous kingdom, some in the US are rather suggesting to tighten the realtionship in exchange for the unreliable Turkey!

All signed. Very heartbreaking particularly the young man whose father was murdered. I'll be naive and ask this: How is the money obtained through weapons sales used? Is it part of the "budget"? Are US citizens (I'm one, LOL) ever given an explanation on the amounts and how they are used?

Since Liliana Garcia mentioned the fate of the al Nimr family, here's more on the background of what Mohammed is speaking of. Particularly the still unknown fate of his younger cousin, Ali Muhammad, also put on death row by the Saudis when he was still under age!

Thanks Dandelion and to all those who put additional links for petitions (and info) of which I've signed all (I believe).

Frankly - I don't think it'll bring any positive results. The SA regime is of much too much value to the US - they can't drop one of their most faithful allies/puppets. For one they're more than willing to fight the proxy wars for the US (see Yemen and Syria) and have the good $$$$ to pay for the expensive weapons. They even don't mind, that they don't get the last 10% of the software required to operate those weapons - but accept that this is done by "trusted US personel" (whatever that entails).

The Al Saud Clan would and will do literally everything and anything to stay in power. Just look at the two Egyptian islands (Tiran and Sinafer) where Saudi and Israel have established joint HQ for military training, etc.

We should stop being fooled by propaganda and start looking behind the smoke screen.

There was a very distressing program on Australian t.v. last night about the indiscriminate bombing of Yemen by the "Saudi coalition." They are deliberately targeting hospitals and civilian targets with the assistance of the U.S. and U.K.
The plight of the people, especially the children, was beyond belief. MSF have had to withdraw its personnel because of the threat to their lives.
Not a word in the media. Disgusting!!!!!!!

Yes Aleppo IS bad, has been. But NOT because of "the regime's" atrocities in first place, rather it's the jihadist terrorists doing the worst there.
But we're used to some folks turning the truth upside down as in the endless Palestinian-Israeli conflict. They have been brainwashed to confuse offense with defense.
Indeed those Islamist terrorists supported by SA, Turkey AND the US ARE taking hostage the civilians using them as human shields and not only in East Aleppo!
