The science on climate change is clear. But many members of Congress are in complete denial, and they're standing in the way of progress. We need to call them out.

Right now, way too many lawmakers in Washington flat-out refuse to face the facts when it comes to climate change.

We're never going to make real progress on this issue unless members of Congress get serious. Instead, some of them have made a habit of publicly mocking it. We thought it was time to call them out for denying what's basic science.

The science matters in this. That's the message way too many people in Washington need to hear right now. In 2011, there were 240 members of Congress who voted to say that climate change is a hoax. Most of them are still around today, and they're getting away with it—some of them are actually proud of it. They think the whole debate is pretty funny.

If we want to make progress on climate change, we need everyone in Congress on board for a solution. It's our job to show them there's a price to pay for being a climate denier.

It is not only in congress but in many governments around the world, where this alarming denialism is rife. And it is rarely ignorance, rather a deliberate denial in order to promote the aims if big corporations.
But I agree that something must be done. The people's voice must be heard - and the US Congress is a good place to start.

The old climate change denial situation has a common theme in that it is espoused by usually not very bright and frequently don't know much about their own theory, and consequently can't give a direct answer - only that there must be a conspiracy types. The thing is that there is a certain thing that is consistent with the Conservative attack on climate change is that Apparently, global warming is a liberal conspiracy. You know, because of all the things liberals have to gain from it, like, know, things AT ALL. It is more interesting to see how many of them are pocketing money from the fossil fuel industry and how terminally stupid they are maybe see how long Michele Bachmann can last breathing carbon dioxide should work or be moderately amusing when she turns a funny blue color.

I especially like Bonners comments about cows ... "which do what they do" having NOTHING to do with carbon dioxide - they release methane ... show just how ignorant these people are! It is time to give up on congress - the Tea Party has become so entrenched that nothing will happen for the next three years. We need to take action outside of congress - personal action is the key. However, I did sign as a way to let Obama know that this IS an important issue and worth acting upon. There is a lot Obama can do outside of congress through executive orders and appointing the "correct" leaders in the various agencies which can also take action ...

Ignoring climate change is like an ostrich putting its head in the sand and thereby ignoring what is going on around it. However, it will suffer the consequences anyway. Ignoring something does not mean it will go away.

It really saddens me that there is still any debate about human-induced climate change at all. I just read we are approaching 400 ppm of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. At the rate we are going, we will join our forebears like the Mayans and many other civilizations that destroyed their environment and disappeared from the face of the earth. No one can say we haven't been warned.
