If we are to break the cycle of poverty and hunger by 2015, as established by the United Nations' Millennium Development Goals, this year's G8 Summit will need to put much of its focus on how to combat rising rates of malnutrition and indigence.

In June 2013, the annual G8 Summit will be held, during which leaders from the world's eight largest economies come together to discuss issues of global concern. We need to send President Obama a message asking him to specially address the growing problem of global hunger.

If we are to eliminate extreme hunger and poverty by 2015 as established by the United Nations' Millennium Development Goals, the G8 Summit must focus much of its conversation on ways to tackle the underlying causes of malnutrition and indigence.

Hunger is the world's number one health risk, killing more people than tuberculosis, malaria, and AIDS combined. Over 15,000 people will die today of hunger alone. If we don't address the ever-growing issue of world hunger, trying to solve other problems will be fruitless.

Urge President Obama to focus on solving world hunger by 2015 — both at the Summit and beyond.

If your body is not nourished, it cannot function properly. So much needs to be done on a global level. Let's hope they can do better than just discuss the situation at the G8 Summit. If there are petitions other then ONE’s petition campaign to end hunger and poverty, would someone please post it? Thank you.

Noted but when I signed I received the note: Thank you, you've already signed this campaign!

However, when I had gone to click on the link at the top of the page "TAKE ACTION..." or "visit site", I wasn't able to find an active petition about this matter there to sign. I found it by copying, pasting, and searching Erin's link to it.

So I am going to thank both Beverly and Erin.

Perhaps crime rates would drop if no crimes were commited because of hunger. How about if every country used 5% of their defense budget to feeding the hungry?

Beverley thank you for posting this action to end starvation in 2015 and thanks Ben O. for the highlighted link.
Here is my response> May 16, 2013 rosemary rannes One child dying from starvation is one child too many.Every child deserves to live, to have a healthy life. We are 'without excuse'! There is enough food to feed children globally. Children starve b/c of beaurocrisy and hypocrisy! Haiti for example!
Let's hope the G8 this year will make the conscious decision to finally pass a resolution and beyond that ensure that starvation is not going to be ongoing for next innocent generations.

By solving the horror of starvation , we also address the issue of poor health and the need to send so much money and resources in medical aid too these places in need. Malnutrition is the basis of poor health. I pray for a day when the resources of the Earth will be shared equally among all her inhabitants.

Or sooner!!! Take funding from the pharmaceutical companies, the OIL industry that make billions, and the arms/military industry and you would have plenty to end world hunger with.

Darren and Rosemary ~ I do hope this is the new priority for our world leaders as it should be, not big oil or special interest groups or war, but taking care of the people of the earth.
