At a moment when our government is putting some of our most vital programs on the chopping block, the Waltons are the leaders in utilizing tax loopholes that cost taxpayers an estimated $2 billion a year.

The Walton family, Walmartís owners, were recently exposed as some of the most innovative tax evaders of our time.

With more wealth than the bottom 42% of Americans combined and $144.7 billion dollars in the hands of just 6 family members, the Walton family recently came under fire in the press for extreme and innovative new forms of avoiding paying their full tax burden. While the Waltons are thinking up new and creative ways to avoid paying their fair share, their business at Walmart continues to cost taxpayers an estimated $1million per store (they have more than 4,000 in the US) in government assistance to subsidize the poverty wages Walmart pays its employees..

Letís make an example of the Waltons and let the super-wealthy know they have to pay their fair share!

Have signed, though I won't hold my breath. The 1% think they're above the types of things the rest of us lowly 99% have to do like play by the rules and pay our fair share of taxes. Thanks Beverly.

As it states in the information provided, "We canít allow the super-rich to manipulate our laws and exploit loopholes to avoid their fundamental civic duties."

"With more wealth than the bottom 42% of Americans combined and $144.7 billion dollars in the hands of just 6 family members," they have more money than they can ever use. Why would they even want to pay lawyers to find ways to help them avoid their moral, social and civic responsibilities? Considering the way they treat their employees, I can't say I'm surprised by their greed and indifference.

Gladly signed and noted.

This topic is very important -- as it illustrates several of the biggest problems with the US economy: the huge
disparity in income and net worth between average citizens and the CEO's and top executives in the biggest wealthiest companies in our country -- (This is true at least in part to the skewed tax regulations and loopholes which enable these companies to pay minimal to no taxes -- and sometimes to even receive payments back from the government) This is so clearly absurd and unfair that it is hard to understand how this situation can be acceptable to the people of this country! This is NOT a democracy and we have an urgent mandate to change things if our country is to be a viable true democracy!

Signed, noted, & shared. I know first hand that WalMart / the Waltons will take away from the school tax base in by avoiding taxes. And they lie about it. This happened when I lived in NY & my husband was on the school board. If a company beautified its property it could ask for an exemption from or reduction in taxes. WalMart publicly stated they wouldn't apply for the tax abatement yet they did and sent a notice to the school board that they were doing so. It really hurt the community when they did so. Never mind their other egregious practices. GRRRR...

Walmart is the AntiChrist!! They are sucking the country dry! They are taking money AWAY from all the federal and states budgets that they are located in. No matter what country! They are screwing the taxes all over the world, not just in the US! Old Sam is turning over in his grave seeing how greedy and spiteful his kids are! They are the worst thing ever spawned in this world. To think they have more money THAN 42% OF OUR COUNTRY! That is a almost HALF of the country!
I never go to walmart. I will never go to walmart, EVER! I will not further their unfeeling, gross neglect of their workers! That 42% they are talking about~about 99% are walmart employees!!!
Shame on the waltons and all their spawn!
