It's time to step up the pressure again, and to demand that Congress take action on sensible steps supported by an overwhelming majority of Americans.

A majority of Senators supported expanding background checks for gun purchases, but were blocked because Republicans used the filibuster to block an up-or-down vote.

In fact, a group of NRA-backed Senate Republicans -- led by Ted Cruz and Rand Paul -- vowed to filibuster every single gun reform proposal. They wouldn't even allow a vote to take place.

Enough is enough. With tragedy after tragedy continuing to take innocent lives, we don't have the luxury to give up this fight.

I can't imagine living with such extreme suppression . . . but, lately, I have noticed that increasing numbers of women are stepping forward.

Thanks for posting, Beverly. At least, we can go on record with our solidarity and empathy.

(Oops . . . I meant to post this in the thread on Saudi women drivers. *blush*)

It's, obviously, time for me to go to bed!

Done and it's a shame to see some of my liberal friends doing this also! Everyone has gone gun crazy and there's no need for this at all :/

Noted and signed. I'm sick of hearing about gun violence! I'd really like to see guns taken off our streets and out of the hands of kids!

Republicans not allowing an up or down vote indicate a total lack of respect for Democracy and the American People. They need to get a damn spine and show some damn CHARACTER!

We ARE the majority. Just because a few windbags (who don't seem to care about the EPIDEMIC of shootings as long as they can have their preciousesssss) are LOUDER than we are, doesn't mean they should have their way with this one. Not with lives on the line. Oh, and sanity. Did I mention sanity?

Speak out. Educate. Call Congress. We can do this, we have to if any of us are going to be able to ever live in relative peace.
