Sen. Bob Menendez is pushing forward with legislation to impose new economic sanctions on Iran, a move that could kill the Obama administration's negotiations to strictly limit Iran's nuclear program and verify those limits with international inspections.

Simply put, Menendezís bill could close the door to a diplomatic solution and force a military action against Iran. Worryingly, right now it has 59 34 public supporters, split almost evenly between the two parties, versus only 10 public opponents. [Update: The bill has 25 new co-sponsors, all but one of whom is Republican, bringing the total number of public supporters to 59.]

Menendezís bill is reckless and irresponsible and we need to make sure that senators hear from their constituents on this hugely important issue before a veto-proof majority (67 senators) forms in favor of it.

i don't know why good people are so worried about this.
let them do what they want. it'll ensure the doom of the republican and tea party and the influence of aipac on our otherwise free society once iran retaliates. you'll see people leaving israel by dhroves for brooklyn. the persian gulf will once again by a persian lake. the economy of the murderous kingdom of saud will evaporate.nobody will be able to live in the levant for decades. hezbollah will block out the sun with missiles.
let them go ahead and step into this pile of feces. the stink will never leave their shoes. i don't know about you, but i would never attack a nation that has the capabilities of downing our weapons electronically. and an attack or further sanctions will make the argument of the iranian hardliners about the need for the bomb hard to dispel.

Been there, done that.
Yes, he is my Senator, as well, and quite liberal. I read an opinion piece that he, and liberal Chuck Schumer, of N.Y., who is apparently on Menendez' side on this, are doing this to curry favor with their more hawkish constituents in the next election cycle in which they will be involved,
Could be, but a sad indictment of our political system, though by far and away, not the worst.

Here is some interesting stuff on Menendez...

Funny, this whole Dr. Melgen issue has been around a while. Even through Menedez's last campaign cycle. No one cared at that time and now that he goes against the boss, it's back with some new stuff.

$9 million in overbillng for medicare while the ACA was still being fought. No one cared. I know I made a gazillion phone calls about this at the time. He helps his buddy with excuses on excessive overbilling while Americans go without health care. He still got elected and put in an even greater position of power. There were also allegations about some legislation being pushed by Menendez for retrofitting trucks fuel systems. It didn't go through but a buddy of his would have fared well in that deal. The port deal... Um, pretty stinky stuff...not a peep about it until now.

Now this asking to push through some illegals who donate heavy to him personally and democrats overall.

Talk about abuse of power and politics.

I guess he shouldn't have pissed the boss off.
