The title for this video is rather misleading. Her opinion about Zimmerman not targeting Trayvon because he is black is rather meaningless since she doesn't know the man. However, that title ignores everything else she says about the case. She had been a mother to Trayvon for 14 years, her opinion is that Trayvon wouldn't have started a fight until Zimmerman laid hands on him. She also is convinced that Zimmerman killed Trayvon and will be upset if a not guilty verdict is returned.

Zimmerman lied with the knowledge he has. No blood on Martin after punching? Didn't happen. His recoil likely broke his nose.
Zimmerman took his READY/chambered/cocked gun to a fist fight with the intention of winning it.

It's flat out racism. No doubt.

Roger,
Watching or reading it isn't part of their job. Just spreading the hate is all they are willing to do. They define the metaphor, sheep or sheeople.
Because of their inability to see that in us, they don't think it's happening to us.

Carol, we read. We check and recheck. That's why we're selective with your sources. We already know their agenda as to how they want us to think. CNN is no different than fox other than the 24/7 hate. That's why your peeps can't identify with them. They are too subtle for you. Not enough hate to feast on.

Quite dishonest of you Carol, to come here and claim that you just want justice. How is Ms. Stanley's interview relevant to the case? I know this is probably going to come as a surprise to you, but these are grieving people. Let them alone and don't try to make political hay off of that poor woman. Are you being paid to do this or do you just have a lot of pointless free time?

Angie...The political part of all of this BS came from Obama himself when he said........"If I had a son he would look just like Trayvon!!!" THAT is where the racial BS started and Obama fed it WELL!!

Roger and Jason...I won't waste my time on reading your incoherent remarks...............AGAIN!!

How were the president's comments in any way racially motivated? Zimmerman admitted that he profiled Martin because he was black and therefore, in his mind, "suspicious."

Angie...You are smarter than that!! The comments he made was to stir up the Black community that the President is behind this young innocent man and he knew all he had to do was say something to stir up the masses of Blacks to start rioting and to create unrest. If you can't see that then I don't know! Zimmerman in no way admitted that he "profiled" him because he was Black and in his mind looked suspicious. Zimmerman was ASKED by the Police if he could see what the guy looked like and he said he THOUGHT he looked like a Black person...that is NOT profiling him because he was Black! From what he saw that was what it LOOKED like to him at the time...he never KNEW he was Black. He didn't say Yeah..the guy IS Black..he said he LOOKS Black..there is a difference! And he did say he looked suspicious...he had been asked by the gated Community to be their watch person so I am sure he was use to seeing "suspicious" looking people. When you have a job like that you become use to what to look for in a person that is up to no good.

Good for Obama. Because if he hadn't said that, the Sanford PD would have never arrested Zimmerman, their paranoid neighborhood watch buddy.

Angie..And your comment and attitude is exactly WHY this whole scenario has played out as it has. As a result of what he said there have been many attacks on White people from Blacks in retaliation for this!! On innocent people that had nothing to do with Trayvon or Zimmerman....this is what YOU call justice!? You are showing nothing but the typicla liberal anger which causes so much unrest in this country! WOW!

Well Carol, if Zimmerman just did as the police directed him to do instead of playing vigilante, this debate wouldn't even be happening and Trayvon would be alive.

Zimmerman was going back to his vehicle when Trayvon jumped him, Roseann..I doubt your claim because knowing what Trayvon did and what kind of a young man he really was..he could still be dead from another Black in a gang fight! That is the kind of young man he portrayed himself as! So you really do not know that he would still be living...none of us know when we will die!

I don't believe race has anything whatsoever to do with why Zimmerman went after Martin. I do believe that Zimmerman's actions led to Martin's death, but I find it hard to understand why he is facing murder charges and not lesser charges in this death. He didn't set out to kill the kid, and it is entirely possible he was acting in self-defense.

Thanks Jo! So true! And to find out that the woman who brought those charges against him so quickly did it wrong and she was found guilty of it says a whole lot about the charges! As in bogus!

Just because someone is "liberal" doesn't mean they can't see both sides of the story. I feel the there is a LOT not being said about the case and that people, on BOTH sides are jumping to a lot of conclusions before knowing the "facts". You can't get the "facts" by listening to news media and you certainly can't get "facts" from this woman. We all should be able to agree on that. Maybe Zimmerman should not have gone after Martin. But, he was a neighborhood watch person and he took his "job" very seriously. Did he have malice in his mind when following Martin? No one here can say for sure WHAT he had on his mind, because you weren't there and you weren't inside his head and you haven't heard ALL the facts about the case. Of course people are going to say Martin was just a good kid ... and maybe he was!!! But, WE don't know him and WE don't know Zimmerman. So how can WE judge what the hell actually happened when we don't know ALL the facts? And Martin would have still been alive today had HE not gone after Zimmerman, too. If Zimmerman pulled a gun BEFORE Martin punched him, I doubt Martin would have been able to get him on the ground to punch him. And how many punches should you take, when a guy is on top of you, before you pull the trigger on the gun you are LEGALLY carrying and that the guy on top of you is going for? I think they are both to blame for what happened. I am a liberal ... I guess I am not your "typical" liberal. Why do people have to stereotype? That is what this whole case is about. And here are the people at this post doing the exact same thing. Jumping to conclusions about people and situations you don't really even know much about except for what the biased media tells you ... and BOTH sides are biased. Sorry for the rant ... this case just ticks me off because people are being manipulated into forming opinions about something they really know nothing about, and the results of this case could cause things to get really ugly in this country. It's like the news media WANTS a freaking racial war!!

Deb..You are right! And I have mentioned several times that not ALL Liberals are the way of some but those who appear to have the a better than thou attitude with their accusations against Republicans/Conservatives are usually the ones with the loudest voices which gives a bad rap to all Liberals. I have some VERY wonderful Liberal friends that I think the world of so I am not totally against all Liberals. Only those who lack a show of respect! And No..I would say you are NOT the typical Liberal..it just so happens that many of us happen to see more of those who lack respect and common sense more so than the others.

I will say though in Zimmerman's defense about him being a racist... which he has been accused of....how can one be called a racist when he himself and his family have taken care of small Black children!? Anyone who would call him a racist surely does not know what they are talking about. But yet this has added to the lies about Zimmerman...that in itself tells me he is not a racist and I agree with you that he took his job seriously! he also could not get on the police force that he wanted to because of his financial status...otherwise he would have been hired! Now if that is the ONLY reason he was not accepted to be a Policeman and the other qualifications he met..then I would tned to believe Zimmerman over Martin! JMO! And thanks for your informative post!

It's not stereotyping to think it's racism when the PD didn't even arrest Z. afterwards. They just let him go home because they knew him and they took his calls all the time. They simply took his word for what happened. His "word" has changed 4 or 5 times now. The justice dept. had to get involved in order for this trial to even be occurring now. It does give the picture of racism being alive and well in Sanford, FL. But I will concede that maybe they are just incredibly inept. I don't know. I do think that Zimmerman's 50 phone calls to the PD reporting "suspicious black people," all of whom were minding their own business and not committing any crimes, certainly leads one to conclude that Z. is a racial profiler. Face it. He is.

I do think Z. will get off on this. This is Florida, after all. Sad that he will, but there it is. There will be, I think, no justice for the Martin family.

Angie,..They had no reason TO arrest him! What part of that do you not understand!? Everything he told them was very believable and he had the evidence that he was in a fight for his life by having his head bashed in! Why would they not believe him when seeing that!? Just because you think they should not have believed him and you think he was lying!? Besides the fact if it was like you say that he talked to them all the time then you would know he was a law abiding citizen! Not too many criminals I know that keep in close touch with the PD's!! So why all the sudden do you jump of the save Trayvon wagon when you don't know squat about him other than what the media wanted you to know!? And you sucked it all up hook line and sinker!! Here you go AGAIN..he changed his story 4 or 5 times..next it will be 5 or 6 times..geesshhhhhhhhh...give me a brek..that is a HUGE lie! And the Justice Dept. DID NOT HAVE TO GET INVOLVED in order for this trial to occur...what the hell can't you see about Obama and the criminlas in the Justice Dept that does not tell you they are in bed together! Man you are gullible Angie! You believe anything and everything the liberal administration wants put out! WHATEVER!! Trying to discuss anything with you with all of your untruths for accusations is pathetic! So I am just calling it quits with you trying to get you to see another side to the story..you have your mind made up Zimmerman is a criminal and a murderer...fine..believe it! You are so anti Zimmerman it shows in everything you say about the case!let the Jury decide and pray the truth comes out or at least that there is someone with brains to be able to figure this out without bias from the left!

You do not take the shooter's word for what happened without some kind of forensic investigation. Seriously, are you really asking me that? Let me ask you, why are you so eager to believe everything Z. says? He was the shooter. How do you know he didn't attack Martin first? Simply because he said he didn't?

In the end, I hope that the Martin family takes Zimmerman to civil court. They have a better chance of getting justice for their murdered son there. Unless...those 6 mothers on the jury realize that there but for the Grace of God...they could be sitting where Sybrina Fulton sits today.

Your comments about the Justice Dept. are completely odd. The entire justice dept. is no good because Obama is the president? Is that it? Wow. Who are the criminals in the justice dept? Do you have some names?

It’s George Zimmerman’s defense team’s turn to put forth their case, and quite frankly, they have a fairly easy path ahead. The wind is at their backs because no real, compelling evidence was brought before the jury by the prosecution in their initiative phase of this kangaroo charade (because none actually exists).

Nonetheless, despite the lack of evidence against the accused, rather than issue a judgment of acquittal last Friday, the judge punted the whole matter onward, and eventually toward the jury phase. So now we watch attorneys Mark O’Mara and Don West solidify the fortress of exculpatory factors for their client. Meanwhile, prosecutors can only make rather vain displays of flailing stabs at discrediting defense witness’ statements, while trying to throw out evidence & throw up procedural blocks to the defense.

This having been the first full day of defense testimony in this unsavory spectacle of prosecutorial misconduct, it started off featuring witness after witness taking the stand to swear that the voice of someone yelling desperately for help on the 911 call recording which has come to be known as the “Lauer tape” (after the last name of the witness who made the phone call) is that belonging to George Zimmerman.

The parade of highly competent defense witnesses making that same testimony actually began late last Friday, after the prosecution rested its case and the judge denied a defense motion for a Judgement of Acquittal based on lack of evidence against their client (earlier that day, Trayvon Martin’s mother and older brother had claimed it is Trayvon’s voice).

At the end of Friday’s drama, Zimmerman’s mother and uncle briefly took the stand in the first volley of the defense phase, and both stated very firmly and with steadily-controlled passion that it is George’s voice screaming on the tape. Their statements, delivered in thick “Spanglish” accents, seemed to come from a visceral level, and evoked visible reaction from Zimmerman himself, to the point where his eyes appeared to be tearing up while locked onto his uncle–a former U.S. Army command sergeant major and current sheriff’s deputy–speaking forcefully of his role in George’s early life, and of his adamant conviction about the subject of his testimony; that his nephew is the one yelling over and over for help on the tape.

This morning’s developments saw and heard no less than five close friends of Zimmerman, at least two of whom have direct past experience hearing Zimmerman’s voice yelling loudly at multiple political rallies, support his story. Furthermore, at least two also testified that the kinds of profanity used by Zimmerman on his calls to police non-emergency dispatch did not, in their view, indicate ill will, hatred, nor the depraved state of mind required for a charge of second-degree murder.

Remember, the police dispatcher himself said the same thing on the witness stand last week–that Zimmerman’s comments about “these a**holes always get away” and “f***ing punks” were, in his six years’ experience as a 911 dispatcher, fairly normal remarks, of the type which often come from ordinary citizens calling police to report suspicious activity.

Zimmerman’s friend from last week, federal air marshal Mark Osterman, was again on the stand, describing how no law enforcement agency (that he knows of) has a policy which allows any officer to carry out duties without having a live round in the chamber of their weapon, and that the lack of an external safety on a semi-automatic pistol is not necessarily a safety feature in all circumstances. (for what it’s worth, I can corroborate what Osterman says, from a professional standpoint.)

Adding fuel to the fire in the belly of the defense juggernaut, encore performances were given by both of the Sanford police detectives who’d already been called to testify for the state last week, Doris Singleton and Chris Serino.

Singleton and Serino both testified that upon playing the Lauer tape for Trayvon Martin’s father, Tracy Martin, he had said in their presence that it is not his son’s voice screaming.

Later, when Tracy Martin himself was called to the witness stand by Mark O’Mara, he told a different story than Singleton and Serino did: Martin swore that he had at that time said instead that he couldn’t tell whether it was Trayvon’s voice or not. He also acknowledged that he changed his position later on, claiming that the voice is Trayvon’s.

Between the testimony of the two detectives and Martin came that of a rather interesting and compelling witness, the owner/operator of the gym of which Zimmerman was a member in the year leading up to the incident in question.

Adam Pollock presented a somewhat charismatic, energetic, and forceful personality, describing his involvement in bodybuilding, martial arts, and all kinds of fitness-related competition, training, and instruction from his early childhood to his current professional standing as a consultant and entrepreneur.

O’Mara put Pollock through the paces for awhile, picking his brain as to the different kinds of fighting skills and mixed-martial arts techniques which exist, and which are taught in classes at his gym.

O’Mara then had Pollock physically, positionally mock-demonstrate on him, on the courtroom floor in front of the jury, the same “ground-n-pound” technique that primary eyewitness John Good described last week, when he testified as to what he saw Trayvon Martin doing to Zimmerman while mounted on him “MMA style.”

Pollock described Zimmerman having come to him and to his gym as a flabby, soft, heavy, and utterly non-athletic specimen with the goal of “losing weight and getting in shape.”

Although Zimmerman did succeed in losing quite a lot of weight through his exercise and dieting efforts–Pollock said 70-80 lbs.–he simply did not have the adequate athletic background from childhood sports activities, nor the overall inclination/scheduling flexibility, to really develop any fighting skills at all. Pollock described at length and in detail the heavy commitment required for someone of Zimmerman’s profile to attain accomplishments of proficiency in the realm of even basic boxing, and that Zimmerman’s non-athletic softness and lack of total dedication/sparse class participation just couldn’t cut it in the least. When asked over and over again by both the defense and prosecuting attorneys, Pollock was steadfast and rock-solid in insisting, rather forcefully, that someone like Zimmerman was only a “0.5″ on a scale from 1-10 in terms of being able to even throw a punch effectively. He refused to let Zimmerman ever get in the ring, not rating him beyond mere shadow-boxing out of safety & liability concerns.

Pollock greatly helped the defense by firmly putting into the jury’s minds that Zimmerman was not in any way in a capacity to counter nor withstand the physically overwhelming, blitzkrieg onslaught of flying fists from Trayvon Martin, especially once Martin had him pinned underneath him flat on his back, even attempting to smother him.

What the jury may or may not know is that Martin was a strapping, athletically-conditioned high school football player who had an ardent lust for fighting, even texting to a friend that he wanted a rematch with one opponent he’d already beaten because the guy “didn’t bleed enough for me, only his nose.”

Otserman’s additional testimony helps show the jury that Zimmerman carried his concealed firearm in a conventional, responsible, and safe way, and that Zimmerman deployed it only as a last resort to save his own life.

As for the rest of the day’s courtroom action, once the day’s witnesses had been heard, things pretty much bogged down in involved arguments over prosecutors trying to get judge Nelson to throw out testimony and evidence unfavorable to their side.

Nelson has been helping the prosecution all along, as everyone has been able to see for themselves. I can understand why De la Rionda and his cohorts are grasping for all the help they can get, because they are pushing a train that has no tracks underneath it.

We can only pray that the jury can also recognize this for what it is.

I guess it all depends on where one goes for these stories. I don't go to Fox News, which wants to turn Zimmerman into a saint. Thus, the article above. No one knows how this case will end, no one knows the eventual verdict. It seems to be leaning in the murderer's favor. I find that sad. I hope I am wrong. And don't get me wrong, Carol. I do have an ounce of sympathy for Zimmerman who did an incredibly stupid thing that ensures that his life will never be the same. But someone is dead, and no matter what the verdict, Zimmerman will never, in my eyes, be "innocent."

Angie..For your information this never came from Fox News..not that it will make any difference to you because you already have your mind made up that Zimmerman is guilty!!! And no Fox does not want Zimmerman to look like an angel..they report that facts unlike the others that left out information intentionally to show Zimmerman as a racist like many liberals do when in fact they are the racists themselves for the sole purpose of making it into a race issue when it should not be!

By the way...I just read where some Black 16 year old kids poured gasoline on a 13 year old White kid 2 blocks from his home and started him on fire! He is suffering from 1st degree burns on his face...does this make you feel better that it happened to a White boy!? Have I heard you or anyone else saying ANYTHING about this incident especially the National Media!? No!! That's because it's a White boy and not a Black boy so I guess it's not a race issue if it's a White boy but if it's a Black boy that has something happen to him then it[s on the National news as racism!! Talk about hypocritical!

This information is coming out as a result of the FINDINGS of what actually happened between Zimmerman and Martin......granted it goes against everything you have been brainwashed to understand so naturally you do not believe it but that's not my problem I guess. And Zimmerman did nothing wrong..you can say he did all you want but he didn't! And you said it your self..you always had Zimmerman as guilty and the evil wrong doer and you always will...that's SAD!!! When you can't even see the facts and admit you were wrong in your assessment of the situation that's pretty bad!!

All I can say is I sure hope you do not ever have anything happen to you that was completely innocent but somebody someplace has you guilty in their mind and puts you through what Zimmerman has gone through and even after it's all said and done and they see that you are innocent they are STILL gonna hold you guilty in their mind!!

Patrice M (84)

Some black kids somewhere did something unspeakably horrible. So therefore, in your mind, Trayvon Martin, also a black kid, must have been guilty. And you're not racist? Please.

Carol Dreeszen (346)
Wednesday July 10, 2013, 2:40 pm
Angie..There again your logic is warped! I never said that nor intended that..only making comparisons to your protection of Martin and to call me racist does not even deserve an answer! but it's for sure the likely answer I have heard many times from some liberals!
