In Barton D. York's letter of Jan. 4, "A weapons scandal," he asks to be allowed to bring Oleta Thomas up to speed on the scandalous 'Operation Fast and Furious,' but writes nothing new -- just the same tired old accusations and incomplete information that the political right has been offering up for the past few years.

In Peg Bramson's letter of Jan. 4, "Concerned about gun control and more," she pretty much writes the same talking points that York used in his letter and defends John Fafoutakis' Dec. 17 letter which contained similiar accusations against President Obama.

What York, Bramson and Fafoutakis failed to mention is that the ill conceived "Operation Fast and Furious" was hatched in 2006 during Bush's second term, Obama wasn't inaugurated president until 2009. These three also failed to mention the fact that the Republican-led congressional investigation into this scandal did not implicate Obama.

I've always wondered how Obama was supposed to be responsible for something initiated in 2006 during the Bush administration. And I've also wondered why the political right hasn't questioned Bush's knowledge of this operation that began while he was president.

Given the fact that on his first day in office, President Obama had two wars and the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression to deal with, I think it is very unreasonable to suggest that he would be aware of what ATF agents in Tucson and Phoenix were up to.

Another thing that I find interesting on the issue of gun control is that in 2010 President Obama signed an order lifting the ban on guns in most national parks. Isn't that an enhancement of our Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms? This seems odd for a president who so many accuse of trying to take guns away from law abiding citizens.

I think the time has come for the POTUS to make a speech about the progressive joys to be found in breathing so the GOP can come out against it and then stop doing it.

I think it's past time the liberals wake up and see the disaster this traitor is doing to this country! Some are but then there are those who are hopeless who will never wake up!
