It sounds pretty good, but Lanai has water resources. When we used desalinization to extract drinking water from ocean water, then what we will do with the salt? Tossing it back into the ocean is not an answer, our oceans have enough pollution and rising heat, do we really want them to become completely dead zones?

What will they do with the salt? Any number of things I imagine, since NaCl is extremely useful, and in demand to the degree that we actually mine it. It would be an enormous bonus for Hawaii if they could purchase salt locally from a desalination plant instead of shipping it from North America or Asia.
