As many of us geared up for Fourth of July festivities, the nation's largest beekeeper organizations filed a legal action against EPA for its approval of a new bee-harming pesticide.

As they damn well should. It's outrageous that they even have to pressure them. I suppose now EPA stands for Environmental Poison Approvers.

Qoute: "Despite evidence about the harms of pesticides, and research questions left unanswered, the EPA pushed forward with approving Dowĺs sulfoxaflor"

Money, money, money.

Thanks for sharing, this issue concerns me deeply. Not so long ago I read A world without Bees by Alison Benjamin and Brian McCalum. I found it very worrying and believe much much more needs to be done.

Bees are endangered right now so they need all the help they can get. Save the Bees, they are OUR life force.

Pestycydˇw coraz więcej, a pszczˇł coraz mniej. Kwitną lipy, a pszczˇł nie widać, a kiedyś to aż huczało, tak uwijały się przy lipach.

Noted. Thanks, Kathy.
I like Roseann's new name for the EPA. This is just outrageous. Originally created to "protect the environment," this is an agency that's run amok in recent years. Anybody remember Christine Todd Whitman's little speech when she went to NYC to oversee the possible toxins at the WTC site after 9/11? She pronounced it with a clean bill of health. It wasn't long before lawsuits were filed due to the various diseases contracted by First Responders. The downhill slide since then has been horrendous! Lisa Jackson resigned, as I've read in various publications, because of her objections to dirty energy.
If you want a real eye-opener, watch Gasland 2 to see how far the EPA has sunk.

A day ago at the Fremont Theater in SLO (San Luis Obispo, CA) they exterminated bees that had swarmed on the roof. No beekeepers that they got in touch with deemed it safe to gather them. Seems like they should have taken more time with them. Save the Bees! Noted and Signed. Thanks, Kathy.

I've been signing petitions for years fighting for the protection of bees. I know that my garden sure misses them. Thanks Kathy

I'm afraid for the bees... they don't have much chance against corporations and climate change.

We have to protect bees - the rest of the planet relies on them!

What isn't surprising is how little the EPA has done for anyone or anything but the Big Corps and the GOP agenda. They need to start doing what their job descriptions say, not what money has told them to do!

Good, more pressure is definitely needed.

No bees, no food. It's just that simple.

It's appalling to realize we have businesses in control who make decisions that poison our bees, along with poisoning our water, air, land, and any animal or other life form that gets in the way of their making more and more money. The GOP wants less government, unless it has to do with controlling women's bodies or starting a war. If the government is going to keep the EPA, then they need to do what they were originally intended to do; protect the environment.

Back in the 60's, I read a scifi short story about a future where most of the insects were poisoned by all the chemicals we had dumped into the environment. Pollination was done by hand. People had to get monthly shots of an antidote for the poisons that were in the food we had to eat. Looks like we are going from science fiction to science fact.
