Of the nearly 248 million turkeys raised for slaughter in the United States, a whopping $282 million worth of perfectly edible meat will be wasted, enough to feed each American household in the country 11 additional servings!

Well, I have never eaten turkey all my life, that's all I have to say about that...

You think that's bad; there are 35 million British Turkeys that are infected with MSRA and the public are likely to consume them on Christmas Day :-(

Chief Medical Officer Dame Sally Davies said the positive test was made in a lab and did not come from a consumer. She added: “There’s very low risk. You can kill it by cooking well. There are only a few cases, so it’s safe.”

Would you feel reassured by that?

It is a waste of food, and then if you try to donate it for people that are in shelters or homeless, there are rules in place to prevent you from that. In all honesty what is to prevent someone from big restaurants to not use proper food handling procedures that groups or church does not. I wonder if restaurants that donate food get a tax break, and the reason others can't is because big business do not want us taking their break. Another thing is that my son blames me for making him eat meat, he thinks I just started and I was like no since you were a baby you had meat and turkey. Though I am glad he likes veggies, especially raw, and will eat a whole portabella mushroom burger though he is 8yrs old.

"Here's how to never waste an ounce of Thanksgiving turkey again:" Never eat another turkey, no turkey products. Just stop supporting, directly, an industry that tortures these creatures and, like it's not enough to make them grow so much they can't even stand, then throw them away like they're garbage. Screw the meat industry and don't participate.

I must mention that the statement that 105 Billion gallons of water is wasted is actually a lie. The water is not wasted, it is not removed from the water cycle of Planet Earth. Compare that to the fact that the plastic for water bottles, 75% of which are never recycled, uses 17 Billion barrels of oil enough to power 1 Million cars for an entire year. National Geographic reported that the IEA( International Energy Agency) puts the yearly water use for energy production, except hydroelectric, in 2010 at being equal to the residential water use of every person in the USA for 1.5 years and that will double by 2035. Yes it makes some feel better to blame Omnivores for the woes of the world using extreme examples. But how many of you jeering the turkey eaters own omnivore/carnivore pets. How many of you are ignorant enough to have bought into the bottled water stupidity.
