Domesticated cats kill between 1.3 and four billion birds every year, more than buildings, cars, wind turbines, and airplanes combined.

"Birds rely heavily on their eyesight — they have a higher proportion of cone photoreceptors in their eyes than mammals do — and so she wondered if they might be better able to see cats (and flee them) if the cats wore brilliant, flashy collars."

BRILLIANT!!!

This message was written by 2 people on a group I am in. Linda Matarazzo Cherkassky and Frederick Minshall. Please keep your cats indoors!

the collar doesn't address responsible pet ownership. Feline still roams, is a nuisance, still spreading diseases, cat is still at risk...

Leash training or catio is better. Collar gives owners false sense that they are doing something when they really aren't. Same as bells and bibs and other devices. -the collars don't protect sleeping birds, nestlings, mammals (and most reptiles) that don't see color--or those that do but associate the colors with food rather than danger (e.g. iguanid lizards)--or amphibians whose vision only registers movement, not color (with a few exceptions). These 2 people have been studying cats for a long time.

I say that its Not true, they are saying that because humans don't want to be blamed for killing all of those birds!

man kills so many more birds and other animals. They are the ones who need to wear a collar.
