We suck. Some of us suck more than others, but really, we all do, or have at sometime. We suck because collectively, we toss 28 billion pounds of plastic into the oceans each year. We suck because those bits of floating trash, like six-pack rings and...

i haven't used straws for decades.
If people don't care about the environment then they should realize straws create horrible wrinkles around their mouths!!!

"Across the U.S., we use and toss around 500 million plastic straws each day, which totals out to around 12 million pounds of plastic waste over a year."

Whenever offered a straw, I drink straight from the glass - hang what "they" say about not touching restaurant glasses with one's lips. I've been doing that for years, no problems. If the straw is already opened and in the glass, I go ahead and use it, though reluctantly. Maybe I should invest in a reusable straw like Peggy B.

This is wonderful. Since seeing the video of the turtle with the straw up its nose, I've been trying to go straw-free and spread the word. Did some beachcombing the last two days and am pleased to report that no straws were found (just wads of old fishing line with several hooks, and one styrofoam cup. All deposited in the trash.)
