Don't even try to imagine how surprised I'm NOT. Does Dick Cheney have something to do with it? Then it is pathological in nature, based on antisocial motives, and motivated by Cheney's love of money.

When personal gain becomes the order of the day and the idea of working for the greater good is considered an archaic and useless concept, anything goes. Yet, we the people have the ability to do something about it... and we must, no matter how difficult it is. We need to use our legal system to bring down these monsters as well as the court of pubic opinion.

There you go...the same as usual, they don't give a thought, and if they do, what! who are we to stand facing them? They think they can destroy, create at our own expence, lie now, lie then, manipulate here and there, and then like at that point oliver North, 'Wow, were we wrong' and that is it, just that, were we wrong... and us trying to have a decent life, don't have much time to stop them and to reform laws and get them in jail instantaneously, for this, that and everything. Now the Pallin, careful now, please be aware of the tricks to come, because they don't care about demonstrations in your country or in any other. Good luck to all, of course doing what we possibly can to save the gift of life.

My God!!! An American company poisoning it's own troops. I think that we should send all the people of Hallliburton who are responsible for this to Iraq and make them drink the water!!!!! An investigation should begin immediately and Halliburton should be held responsible for any and all repercussions to these troops.

It's interesting that the press has not picked up on this story over the last 3 years.

Their crimes against humanity are endless. This is ridiculous though. They were paid by the US government (courtesy of Dick Cheney). They made millions. And they poisoned our own military personnel. What does that tell you about them?
I've said it before. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, PROSECUTE ALL OF THEM!

Wealth through the suffering and detriment of others. Who gave Halliburton the contract and why Halliburton? Inquiries need to be made and questions answered then compensation cases will need to be discussed. This should bring the money back to where it belonged in the first place.

It is getting harder to find current high level health risks that do not have the Halliburton/Cheney stamp, corruption and money laundering through Iraq/war-weapons deals-parts supplied in oil spill in Gulf and throughout the world-food contamination in Iraq-water contamination in Iraq, on and on. And the thing that makes it even more difficult is that Halilburton sells these elements directly to managing corporations through large scale deals rather than selling directly to the public so the public cannot petition and boycott, it is hard to know how to get to straight to Halliburton and stop them.

Holy mackeral! Cheney's little darling, Halliburton poisoning our troops. Are you surprised? Anything Cheney has ever had dealings with ends in death and destruction--now this. Next thing is, what are they going to do about it? Will they get by with this poisoning the way Cheney and Bush have gotten by with crimes against the Constitution and 9/11?

I agree with Norm C. The list is vast and deep. This is just the tip of the iceberg but they've covered their vile as*es with the last administration's stamp of approval and cover ups because of personal and illegal gains to persons at the top and on down the ladder. Talk about corrupted, evil, lying, greedy bastards, least of all, absolute and total conflict of interest along with out right robbing the American Taxpayer for eventual personal gain. If the folks on the right that are still Bush/Cheney supporters, defend or try to excuse this, they are just as culpable. Our Nation was raped and pillaged by these people and their sick cronies (Rove Etc.) and it just amazes me that there really are some people out there that no matter what the evidence STILL WILL NOT ADMIT AND SEE THE TRUTH of exactly what was going on, the reasons behind it AND just who benefited from the immoral and despicable acts that administration perverted on our Country with NO regard to human life or the repercussions for the American People. I DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH WORDS in my vocabulary to explain the anger, indignation and pure revulsion I feel for these so called humans.

Rachel Maddow did a story on this a few months ago. I never saw where it was picked up and investigated or any hearings held by OUR Congress.

Pathetic and sad... Of course, Halliburton has been doing this for years (Remember the soldiers getting electrocuted in the showers???) and the US Government STILL insists on doing business with these scum! If both the US government and military don't get on this NOW, first to check for accuracy, of course, but then to fully rectify the situation, then they must share in the dire consequences. Those soldiers both deserve and need all the support they can get.

Is this how our tax dollars are spent??? OMG, the right complains about the deficit and then supports the money that is paid to these bastards who are harming our troops in so many ways. How about them Installing showers that electrocuted some of our soldiers and now poisoning the water??? Halliburton, KRB and Root should NOT be getting ANY contracts with American tax dollars. Isn't there anything we can do about this outrageous use of our money with these government contracts???

Oh, my... So, I don't know who it is in the video, can't verify by anything there but because of all they have done in the the past (like KBR electrocuting soldiers in showers...how many was it, like 23? and still they are on the US payroll) I don't doubt this for a second. Halliburton, Cheney and Co. have proven their ability to get huge no bid contracts, do shoddy or no work at all, cook the books to get even more money, and worst of all - kill and physically harm Americans and other human beings in the process of getting rich.

I understand this. I wonder why it hasn't been reported, I haven't seen it AT ALL - why are they still on the payroll, why aren't people checking their work?

Worse, I went to the site this came from (YouTube) and there were some nasty hateful comments flying around, people calling each other stupid and murderers and ... hateful - I want to see the news, I want to understand what is happening especially with these horrible corporations that are harming and robbing the American people...but why is there so much hate surrounding everything. It really hurts my head to see people tearing each other up like that. What has happened to us?

Yes, Jacob's Ladder popped into my mind, too. Great comments, everyone! Another example of the total disregard for anyone who is not in "the club" of the uber wealthy that have absolutely no regard for the welfare of anyone else in the world. Anyone not in this elite is indeed fodder for the corporate machine. As long as the media is owned by this machine it will not be brought to our attention.

I can only pray that one day Cheney gets his "comeupins," but the way things are, will these companies and people ever be brought to prosecution? I suppose we could write to our reps and President Obama and see if we can get these alligations investigated... thanks for posteing this, John.

This shows that the Devil's helper are always at work .That is why we must see to it that anyone who helped to poison this water will be arrested and made to pay for the crimes of all the soldiers and their families who suffer from illnesses brought on by these frightening poisonings. I always liked them leaving the diet sodas on the pier in 120 degree heat. I like how the aspartame breaks down into poison that gives the troops nerve damage. Or the water in plastic bottles on the pallet in the sun made from BPA. BPA is some nasty stuff that is used to make plastic. The water pipes in that sand box are made from this stuff. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bisphenol_A

I have nothing but deep disgust for Halliburton (KBR). As Cheney was the CEO of Halliburton, we can see the deception of no bid contracts and the total disregard of human lives. Nothing makes me believe other than the hyper-profitization of an already favored contractor guilty of the worst infractions against our armed forces. The one person responsible for creating this ill-conceived war from lies created by the ex-CEO of Hallliburton, Dick Cheney, is, as seen in the worst situation, coming out of a war of deception and lies!

This gentleman is certainly concerned and well-meaning, but his case could also be over-stated. It is not uncommon for water supplies to be treated with chlorine at the source, typically 0.5 to 2.0 ppm chlorine, and then have zero or near zero chlorine residual at some points downstream. This is especially true in warm water where the chlorine residual decays fairly rapidly. Bacteria may, if fact, be killed under these circumstances even though no chlorine residual is present at the end of the pipeline. I don't know if this is the case, but the story is incomplete without knowing that fact. It's also worth noting that bacteria is always present on the skin, usually harmless, and bacteria does not penetrate unbroken skin to cause bodily infection. The eyes can be a source, of course, but most bacteria ingested into the stomach is typically killed by hydrochloric acid contained in stomach secretions. Finally, our own immune system is surprisingly effective at combating most bacteria. He is correct that there are harmful pathogens that may be spread in this manner, especially those spread through fecal contamination, but he presents no evidence to indicate that actual sampling for pathogens was made on any of the sources. Note that I am NOT an employee or advocate for Halliburton, and while I would agree that their treatment should be designed to leave a measureable chlorine residual in the water, there is no evidence presented that pathogens are actually present or that troops have actually suffered from disease as a result of the water supply. Please also note that all of the military services maintain a staff of well-trained environmental specialists whose job it is to test water supplies at bases, and I find it hard to believe that none of these water supplies are being tested. In short, without more evidence, this story seems a bit like an over-reaction to what could well be a relatively minor problem.

BJ G, this clip is from the movie Iraq For Sale. And what the movie showed over and over again was that NO, NOBODY WAS TESTING, nobody was overseeing things, nobody was making sure things got done right. It was total chaos and money was going down rabbit holes by the millions, while Halliburton was electrocuting soldiers in defective showers, poisoning them with their tainted food, and sickening them with bad water. What we cannot get is the statisitcs and cases of things like infection from bad water supply.

But this war was the first to have so much done by private contractors and their relaionship with command and officers in the field was tense at best. They wouldn't cooperate with them and vise versa, so nobody knew what the other was doing much of the time, or they actively worked against each other. The military guys hated the fact that these contractors were getitng paid ten and twenty times their salary for doing the jobs they used to do or doing the jobs they were still doing and doing them shoddily.

Yes, it's definitely true that the majority of soldiers' immune systems kept them from infection, but how many who did get infected are enough to cause alarm? What is the threshold number of soldiers getting sick that would convince you something needs to be done?

The most outrageous aspect of it all is that the Obama admin has completely stifled most investigations into most every area of malfeasance by contractors and military personnel as well because they don't want any more bad publicity for the Iraq war at home or there. The bad water, the electrocutions, the food poisoning, has all come out in some news, but hardly anyone raised a fuss. Much like little real fuss was raised about a severe lack of basic supplies and safety equipment, unsafe/unarmored vehicles etc...

We shout "Support the troops!" but we don't give them the real support they need while they're there nor when they get back home in pieces or just damaged.

You decry the lack of evidence given in this clip. Well they DID do the research when making this movie. They just didn't include those details because peoples' eyes glaze over when you start getting detailed on stuff like that. It's all documented though.

The Halliburton scum responsible for these and other atrocities in Iraq have shown their gratitude for the billions they stole from the good old USA by moving their corporate headquarters to Dubai. They wished to be with their real buddies, the oil sheiks. I'm certain that escaping prosecution for war and other crimes had nothing to do with it.

I am sad to say but what the nation needs is a DRAFT! Thought I would never say that but it seems the only way to wake America up is forcing everyones kids into the action other wise it's just to easy to ignore the fact this nation is at war.
This has been reported just not on Fox, CBS, NBC or major media. I usually find this sort of info from magazines like The Progressive, The Nation, In These Times, The Lowdown (JIm Hightower), Mother Jones (the best), and web pages like: Alternet.com

As an up date, Fox news just, with a strait face that althought those of us in the working class can't see it yet our economy has gotten better because the corps. of the us have posted a 3 rd quarter with very high profits. Go figure. Don't they realize that when they kill us all off they will have no peasants? Who will actually work? Won't be them, and I hope they want a lot. It is sick that money walks and bullshit talks, and we the people of the US suffer.

Now just why do you think there is a big fight regarding the Open Internet? Comcast and the telecommunications companies want control of what you read and how fast you get it sent.
Wake up or the internet will no longer be a free exchange of information and this sort of information will no longer be available.
Is it just possible that the American people don't WANT TO KNOW? After all it takes time and effort to read and is not seen as legitimate work, or evan a duty as a citizen.

I thought the contractors have to sign statements that they will not talk about what they have seen. Maybe it worked in Iraq, but once you are back safe on American soil, and you know something that is a coverup, let's hope those little bacteria causes the sealed lips to move, the conscience to rumble, and all the dirty secrets come out!

The history of warfare shows that it is rare for the rulers and commanders to care for the lives of soldiers in the lower ranks. They are expendable and merely another weapon that can be shot to pieces and otherwise destroyed, and like weapons they are discarded at the end of the war. A recent Australian study of the Vietnam war from an Australian point of view found that the American focus was on body count. It is such statistical, mechanical points of view that ensure that neither civilian deaths nor own-side troop deaths make any difference to the relentless pursuit of death by the rulers (now politicians and corporate oligarchs). Haliburton is a step back to the mercenary armies of ancient Europe and none of them were noted for kindness. In fact mercenaries are just that, seekers of money and loyal only to the paymaster.

This is a terrible mess but not surprising because it's all about the money.

Hugh, once again, you are right! It is like a chess game to them and the military are merely pawns on the playing field.

This is not at all surprising. They just got caught because someone with a conscience turned them in. Haliburton has been involved in so many plots that have sacrificed human and animal life for their almighty profits that it is almost laughable. The insanity comes in their ability to maintain influence in our government, in order to procure no bid contracts. It is obvious to many of us that they have many of our representatives on the payroll. As we all know money talks, corporations buy influence, and anything that Cheney is involved in is evil. These are givens. Haliburton is just another example of how sleazy a corporation can be, just like Big Oil, Coal, and Gas, Skank of America, Big Insurance, Factory Farms, etc. the list is endless and extremely boring, because it is always the same culprits. When will this crap end. To sacrifice human and animal life for money is a high crime against Humanity and Nature. Yet when these sleazebags get caught, they get a slap on the wrist and a free ticket to continue their evil behavior. Nobody prosecutes them or makes them accountable ( Gulf Oil Catastrophe sound familiar). We are supposed to have laws to protect our citizens. At the end of the day these laws are not worth the paper they are printed on because slimy corporations like Haliburton pay no attention to them. Our troops need to know that they are in grave danger, not only from the ideological enemies that they face, but from the unseen enemies the hide behind the corporate logos. All of the corporate elite that make these decisions to scam us are responsible. They should be prosecuted as murderers, have all of their assets seized to pay the individuals and their families for their damages, jailed for life, and the corporations that are guilty should be prevented from ever doing business again in the United States. I feel like I am constantly repeating myself when it comes to this kind of stuff, because nothing ever gets done. We all need to wake up and make our representatives accountable for their connections to criminal corporations, and make the corporations accountable for their criminal actions.

I'm not at all surprised - power and the endless pursuit of money is the driving force of big business, everything else has to take second place...

Like many others who have posted, sadly, this does not surprise me in the least. I have a brother who is suffering from the effects of Agent Orange. It took many years for the government to admit to that. And a son who is now fighting the effects of Gulf War Syndrome (first Gulf War). This isn't fully recognized yet though they claim it is. My heart goes out to all the soldiers who will come back from Iraq and Afghanistan with physical ailments from this. How long will it take the government this time to accept responsibility?

Absolutely inexcusable. I worked for years in quality control as a certified welding inspector for contractors. This is not much different. The system is supposed to work this way. The owner, in this case the military, is supposed to have a person in place to verify that the contractor, in this case Halliburton, is doing their job properly. Halliburton, in turn, is supposed to have a person assigned to QC themselves. There is supposed to be paperwork filled out and signed off on at each step of the process and this paperwork should be available by FOI request. This all SHOULD have been done under the standards set forth by the American Water Works Association and/or DOD MilSpec regulations which are probably virtually identical. For so basic a violation of standards to have taken place, it indicates such a complete breakdown of the inspection system as to indicate collusion between the DOD and the contractor to not inspect to begin with. No inspection = lack of responsibility = irresponsibility. It'll happen every time.

Surely, no one wants to believe that such atrocities could occur, but when it comes to Big Business, nothing, any longer, surprises me.

In the United States, nothing is more disposable than government property. Never be that.
