UK Government Deports 60 Iraqi Kurds; No One Notices

World  (tags: deportations, iraq, brutality, armed guards )

Blinded by the apparent allure of a tall, thin woman from France, Britain's press completely ignored the forcible deportation, on Thursday, of 60 Iraqi Kurds, who were transported back to a decidedly uncertain future on a German plane from a UK airport.

It is an outrage indeed.
No person under threat of death
or torture should ever be returned
the country they are seeking to
escape.
The British press should be ashamed.
Carla Bruni is NOT that good-looking.
Thank you, Eleanor.

Son of the manse, they would say here. Church of Scotland Presbyterian he is. Christian? I don't think so. He is a man obsessed with himself. Just like Tony Blair is. Someone here on Care2 quoted 'someone who believes in nothing is capable of anything.' These men believe in nothing, just themselves. And look what they have done. I hope to find who said that. It is so true.

We will all be held accountable for the misery we cause others. People like this who have no regard for life, they will find God will have no regard for theirs in the end.

Noted, sick, and reminds me that the Oz government has a shocking policy on refugees ...Here behind barbed wire, ('detainees' is the term used) some for up to 4 years...Then given 'temporary' visas or sent back to face the music...By comparison, perhaps the UK government is 'mercifull'?...Both intollerable...

Noted Eleanor But does other Countries in the World not deport Illegal immigrants? I 'am sure that they would have gone through a very lengthy proccess by the immagration authorities may even have been years.
Not like a friend of mine a journalist who wasn't even allowed to enter America she was hancuffed put in jail and sent backed to the UK the next day. I'am sure if I took time I would find it in some of our papers The Times would be the one or The Scotsman. Never even hear of this website Indylink.UK can't be up to much.

Jim Walde, there is never any excuse for denying refugees sanctuary and forcing them to return to risk of persecution, incarceration, torture and death!!! To excuse such heartless behaviour as deporting refugees is a step towards nazism and genocide.

Australia does it because of racism - an integral part of capitalism.

On teh other hand, Venezuela has welcomed huge numbers of refugees - because it is socialist. To make a humane world, to make a world of human rights, peace and happiness, we must transform our political-economic systems. We can only make a humane world by to taking power out of the hands of the capitalist class (owners of capital - including the racist mass media). I'm talking about us common people taking the power back, and exercising that power FOR THE GOOD OF ALL!!!

Genuine refugees and asylum seekers should not be denied as long as they respect the law and culture of the host country. From what I understand what worries people of host nations are the demands made, non-observance of and disrespect for the laws of the land.

If there is a real threat to the lives (at the destination) of people scheduled for deportation, then I don't see how the british Government can justify sending these people to such a fate.

This is for young Simon Wood

Australia had for many, many years the WHITE AUSTRALIAN POLICY and under that my husband had to leave australia in 1966 after he completed his studies. I had to go and live in a strange land for the last 41 years (or divorce him and stay) They scrapped that policy a year after we had to leave and even though we were both professional people we could not convince them to let him stay. No problem for me because I was caucasion.

Sorry for rambling on about this, but insidious policies have been around for a very long time.

Man's inhumanity to man. When will it end? My heart is sore for these Kurds and all others deported without any compassion towards their plight after being dumped back in a war zone. Thank you Eleanor for highlighting this.

Sue, thank you. Your comment is so touching. I am so ashamed of this Labour government. As I have said before, Keir Hardie must be birling in his grave.
