"There is no reason that it should take eleven shots to the head to kill a horse,” said Atamanenko. “Why is this plant being allowed to operate in such an inefficient and inhumane way?” This is what's happening or going to happen, at every slaughterhouse and we all know it. Makes me sick and this was in my inbox.

Big Oil's allies successfully held the Payroll Tax Cut hostage to a rider that would order the Obama Administration to ignore public input, good science and environmental laws and fast-track a decision on the Keystone XL tar sands oil pipeline in the next 60 days.
Once again good public policy is being held hostage to dirty oil bullying. Welcome to America!

We need to figure out how to take the money out of the slaughter market and make the politicians aware that supporting slaughter means political death. Supporting slaughter should mean getting laughed out of office or hauled off in handcuffs. There are ways to effect social change in spite of business interests using money to influence government.

"The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.
I hold that the more helpless a creature, the more entitled it is to protection by man from the cruelty of man."
