The real enemy is hatred that has been drilled into these troops from an early age. Somehow we must counter much of what Israeli children are taught about their Arab neighbours...and teach people to value other people which at the basic level is what this is all about.

I checked with ALJAZEERA office here and they know nothing about this story and could therefore not verify it. If this was really true, Aljazeera would be the first to blast it all over the news. I am really sceptical about the veracity of this claim. Off course if it turns out to be true - it would be monsterous.

someone has posted to see if the MECA staff can have it verified. in a case like this, one doesn't, but if true yes. they are in gaza, this is their blog, they are person to person on the ground, there other updates. Perhaps leaving a note for them to report to Aljazeera, they have been the only ones able to get any filming of the gaza massacre

there is a time in everybody's life were you have to make a hard decission, the decission between what is right and what is easy, and i do hope for the israeli people they will make the decission that is right, even if it is not easy!!! Hand the responsible people for this slaughter on innocent civilians to den haag!!!

This is wrong. I hope they pay. I also hope Obama wasn't borrowing money from them or the Palestinians' are screwed.

I would not discount this story yet. There are atrocities committed all the time. God
knows our own troops have done worse in other places.

Thank you Cheryl Sunshine Benson.

It come down to the simple word Humanity.

At the end of the day it matters little who is right and who is wrong. the only thing that matters is how one set of people treat another set of people.

I have been shocked by the videos of the graffiti painted on the wars where apparently troops have openly said that it is good to kill Arabs...where do they learn such things? And more to the point is how are they to unlearn it again.

Gaza has been an example of dehumanization of an entire people...the election of the 'wrong' party, the blockade, the closure of exits and the systematic murder of civilians, the use of chemicals and illicit arms...this must never be allowed to happen again...either here or in the Congo where it is still going on.

We must stand up for our fellow human beings....there are more important battles to be fought for the future of this planet...and we have to tackle that one together...so lets get all the parties round the table and let the talking start...rockets never were and are still not the issue here...it is about the process of coexistence...or else it will be too late and our planet will die.

A story like this demands some verification before being believable.

My contact at ALJAZEERA here has still not been able to verify this story - nso I will refrain from commenting on an unverified story of such magnitude until then. Emotions tend to run high when one is presented with such a horrific story - so I prefer to be a bit cautious.

It doesn't matter whether it is true or not. Because the facts are even worse than "killing five children for each Israeli". In the entire so-called "Arab-Israeli" conflict, since 1948 when Israel was founded, Israel has killed about 70,000 people, while the "Arabs" have only killed about 7,000. I.e. The Israelis have killed 10x as many people!

And furthermore, since Israel broke the ceasefire on November 4th, 2008 (attacking Gaza and killing 6 Palestinan people), Israel has killed 1,300 people (1,200 of them civilians, and hundreds of those being children), while only 13 Israelis were killed (and only 3 of them were civilians, and some of the 10 coldiers were killed by Israeli "friendly fire").

When Israel stops its military terrorism, and other oppression against the people of Palestine (which means ending Israel's blockade of Gaza and military occupation of the West Bank), and when Israel agrees to the 2-state solution (that the world and Hamas all agree to - but Israel and the USA have refused), including the right for Palestinian refugees to return, then there will be a lasting peace.

When the USA stops supporting Israel (e.g. ends the annual $3 billion military aid to Israel), then Israel will be forced to end its aggressive, expansionist and genocidal policies.

I beg to differ. It DOES matter wether the story is true or not. It whips up emotions and hatred etc and as it turns out - NOONE is able to confirm this story.

It does not matter how disparate the casualty figures are on either side - because EVERY SINGLE LIFE LOST is a tragedy in it's self.

We come here to air our views, write impassionate rethoric (that's all it is because we are the only ones who get to read it) come up with "IFS and WHENS" etc, blaming the US, Bush and an assortment of others. Makes no sense to me at all - because the Protagonists never get to read how we feel. Maybe someone could harvest ALL the comments from her and other related threads and send them to all parties involved in this mess. IMHO

Israel deliberately blocked aid: UNOfficial says UN stocks sabotaged; Olmert wants pullout 'ASAP'

How Social Media War Was Waged in Gaza-Israel Conflict

"If I were an Arab leader, I would never sign an agreement with Israel. It is normal; we have taken their country. It is true God promised it to us, but how could that interest them? Our God is not theirs. There has been Anti - Semitism, the Nazis, Hitler, Auschwitz, but was that their fault ? They see but one thing: we have come and we have stolen their country. Why would they accept that?" -- David Ben Gurion
