One of the most significant signposts for 2008 got little notice when it appeared this month. But Statistics Canada's latest national survey on the growing number of adults and children with disabilities should send a clear message to politicians in what

the stats are wrong, there are 2 kind of stats forms, the short one and the long one, the short one has barely any questions on it, they had to come to my door and track me down to get the short form, who gets which one is random, and they didn;t asked re the chroncially actually ill who are severely disabled & ongoing push to be recognized by Canada is ongoing.

Right away thou saw a law firm mentioned there I approached who refused me that was for malpractice, they told me some years back I would need $80-$100,000 just TO START my case as the colusion was so made, and that my pain and suffering doesn't count in oh canada. not the nicest reminder but onwards.

as for barriers so called society creates, I don't get out often becuase of present situation and health, pretty much the convulstions now, however I ahve a few times since feb, 2006, but not for long. Prior when I had government care which is cut off due to collusion, the landlord had stoppers put on the front heavy doors, tried to keep the very tiny elevator level that I can barely get on and made my own stick to keep the door open to get in an out with my weak arms and the snow shoveled. they were also to repair a part of the front small ledge to the doors which is crumbled on one side the other is too high, even for my jazzy powerwheelchair. They were to repair it anyway and make a small ramp with cement which would help those shopping with bundle buggies and kids in strollers as well, I am talking about not much more that 6-8 inches made of cement. As soon as the governmetn care was shut off, they never repaired the front, the last time the wheeltrans driver had to pile up snow and pack it down and make a small ramp so I could get up plus they left the ice everywhere, if someone anyone was to break a leg or arm they could sue them. They took the stoppers off the heavy front oak doors and put on heavy brash plating at the bottom (turns out they are trying to sell the dump) that even the rest are having a hard time opening especially with bags in their hands minus strong men. Long list need a disability housing advoate in here, oh yes they have been renting my parking spot out without my permission I've had since I moved here as i KNEW others would need one coming to see me. Real precious. I've held of for numerous reasons, 1, I've taken the prior suprerintents and the present landlord to court already, not long after brain damaged and had to settle out of court I was too bad off. and the news ones were friends with the old ones and are even worse . 2- I should be in 2-8 day supportive care housing wheelchair assessable, wchih is going no where after 8 years and more problems now becuase of the malpractive.

I'll check the links later see if there are any for advoacy so far they advocate to get laws changed or spread info onthe web, but don't help individul cases. As for lawyers they are bottom feeders most of them. The one my landlord used is known to be one of the best for disability in canada and was on the board at ARCH, and also friends which one of the doctors involved in my case, as well as representing one of the ME/FM associations I belonged to. The first thing out of his mouth in mediation was a lie I caught him on, so he changed it. The not so new super's now say they don't understand the word DISCRIMINATION, or how it applies to me what they do or don't do, or to anyone else for that matter. I wish I wasn't in the situation I am in, and so ill, I'd haul them into court again on my own like I did prior.

I know for a fact without looking at the links that the stats are off. I know they are changing more and more curbs so they are slanted. and more stores wheelchair acessable. I feel a law needs to be put in place that any place that is doing renovations is required to put in ramps, and doors that open for you , ever the doors are hard for me, I have to push my cane on the button for them to open. And most of them weigh a ton. Prior, I've tried to get in, I have to push my right side shoulder inbetween the door and the frame and push as abke with body to get it open, that's when I can/could stand (ourside), and 99% of the time peoole standing there (ike cash machine or variety store) stand there and just stare at you and don't help, my left side dragging and stiff as a board most of the time. like who are these people. it wasn't until I got in a wheelchair, especially the power one, i can't push my manual I got it becuase it is collapsable and goes into peoples cars but someone has to push it, what in the first year when I was on meds and could get out here and there and on my own , people didn't see me they would walk right into me, or stop in front of me and start screaming at me (i was going slow). yeah, it's a real trip, nothing like I am going through now. I saw an article on housing being built here and well it is good had to laugh, I've been on the list for 8 years now, and 1 building alone has over 1,000 people on the wait list. ONWARDS. thanks so mjuch for the link will take closer look for canadian ones when get up again, 'gold star"

correction about Wheeltrans, can't take it the the way it is set up with all the phone calling for hours a 7-730 am, and that was before brain damaged, never knew when Iwould be well enough and taking buses even back then was too much I had to start taking cabs in 1998, door to door so to speak. Now I never know if when can ge to my apt door, with the convulstions andmore, the Wheeltrans here neeeds improvements, and I have heard they are making more and mroe subwasy avaible to disabled andhope to have them all done I don't know by what year. Imagine being on the subway in rush how, lol, or not, and alone, real sitting duck, but still great they are making them. later lovey back to bed in a minute.
