How MANY millions of times have I said that our legislators MUST make laws to keep these predators in prison FOR LIFE. Here is just one more precious child DEAD because our law makers, despite hard lobbying by parents groups and those who try to protect children REFUSE to keep these beasts locked up.
Time after time, they are released back onto our streets to continue to prey on our children or to kill them.
WHEN will our law makers care about the rights of children MORE than the rights of child predators???

This is very distrubing to me; this man was released from prison early; for what? Why was bail set so low for this type of crime? It is a known fact that a child rapest will keep on raping children until he ups the anty and turns to raping and killing. I sometimes feel that the powers to be are on the side of these creeps, the laws are not for the victim of these despicable crimes, but rather .for the monsters that commit these crimes. I just don't understand, and this upsets me to the utmost especially when it comes to innocent children.

If I was the parents of the girl, I would be really pissed off and want to see him locked up for years, so he can live with knowing what he did. It is common knowledge that sex offenders CAN NOT be rehabilitated. So why do they keep getting released into sociiety? 99.9% of them are REPEAT offenders. My solution: on the day of sentencing, walk them down the hall to the execution room. So the victims and their families can watch and/or applaud while these freaks of nature die. Troy Hetrick, Virginia, is my soon to be ex-husband. He is currently imprisioned at Dillwyn Correctional Facility in VA. For what that monster did to my daugther, he should die a very slow and painful death. Instead, he gets out in 2019 so he can terrorize yet another child. Yeah, you might say I have some major opinions on this subject. After going through the entire criminal process, I wish now that I had just cut his little friend off and force fed it to him. Forgive and forget. Sorry, ain't happening.

I oppose the death penalty in principle. There is no sense in such a person continuing his miserable, self-destructive, psychopathic life to the detriment of children. If we are going to be so kind and forgiving as to put such non-humans in towns and cities inhabited by children rather than, as some have suggested, "walk them down the hall" (short hall), then the least we can do to rehabilitate them is to drop them off at the North Pole, They can rehabilitate themselves on the way back to the human zone. Or they can just stay their and molest polar bear cubs. --

The problem here is that our legislators, those who make the laws DO NOT CARE ENOUGH ABOUT OUR CHILDREN. As I said previously, parents groups and child advocates have been lobbying legislators for YEARS, yet STILL these monsters are released and re-released back into our midst. Many, finding that prison was not a pleasant experience, turn to MURDER in an attempt to keep from being caught and sent back to prison.
Laws that alert neighbors to their presence, etc...NOT GOOD ENOUGH. Then what happens? Our children must become prisoners in their own homes.
Castration, chemical or otherwise does NOT WORK. You do not need a penis to molest or murder a child.
These crimes are really wrongly labeled as 'sex crimes', as the motivation, for the most part in NOT sex, it is CONTROL over someone weaker, DOMINATION, the infliction of PAIN and SUFFERING on another person, instilling FEAR.
Rehabilitation/therapy DOES NOT WORK, all that does is offer the criminal more ways to 'skirt' what poor laws are on the books.
There MUST be a NATION WIDE ONE STRIKE LAW. Statistically, the first time one of these predators is caught is NOT the first time they have offended. They MUST be kept locked up FOR LIFE or put down...isn't that what we do to vicious dogs who mane or kill? Truly, ask yourself, has someone that would willfully molest, rape, murder a child, not LOST their humanity?
Yet our courts continue to honor 'their' rights and piss on our children. Something is terribly WRONG here!I feel that a being that commits such a horrid crime against a child forfeits their 'civil rights'. What about the RIGHTS of the CHILD and the FAMILIES???
There should be, IMHO, special facilities where these predators should be kept. Put them all together, in one place and let them do what they will to EACH OTHER and KEEP OUR CHILDREN SAFE.

LAST MONTH A CLASSIFIED UNITED Nations report prompted Secretary General Kofi Annan to admit that U.N. peacekeepers and staff have sexually abused or exploited war refugees in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The worst of the 150 or so allegations of misconduct--some of them captured on videotape--include pedophilia, rape, and prostitution. While a U.N. investigation into the scandal continues, the organization has just suspended two more peacekeepers in neighboring Burundi over similar charges. The revelations come three years after another U.N. report found "widespread" evidence of sexual abuse of West African refugees.

"The issue with the U.N. is that peacekeeping operations unfortunately seem to be doing the same thing that other militaries do," Gita Sahgal of Amnesty International told the Christian Science Monitor. "Even the guardians have to be guarded." That's not far off the mark. Various U.N. reports and interviews with humanitarian groups suggest that international peacekeeping missions are creating a predatory sexual culture among vulnerable refugees--from relief workers who demand sexual favors in exchange for food to U.N. troops who rape women at gunpoint.

Allegations of sexual abuse or misconduct by U.N. staff stretch back at least a decade, to operations in Kosovo, Sierra Leone, Liberia, and Guinea. A 2001 report, released by the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and Save the Children, found that sexual violence against refugees in West Africa was endemic (though some of its findings were denied by a subsequent U.N. team). A year later a coalition of religious organizations sent a letter to Secretary of
State Colin Powell urging the United States to send more human rights monitors into Congo. The U.N. then introduced a "code of conduct" to help prevent future abuses, including prohibitions against sexual activity between staff and children and the exchange of money or food for sex.

It now appears, however, that little has changed on the ground. The U.N. Mission in Congo (MONUC) employs about 10,800 peacekeepers from 50 countries, in addition to many civilian staff. Yet there is no independent oversight of U.N. operations in its refugee camps. For that matter, none of the international agencies in the country has U.N. authority to protect the civil rights of internal refugees. Almost a year after the MONUC office in Kindu sent a memo in August 2003 to its headquarters in Kinshasa, detailing suspicions of sexual exploitation, the London Independent discovered action still hadn't been taken.

"We recognize that sexual exploitation and abuse is a problem in some missions," said Jane Holl Lute, a U.N. assistant secretary general, at a recent press conference. "It's obvious that the measures we've had in place have not been adequate." Relief organizations and human rights groups agree, describing as "urgent" the need to protect young girls from U.N. militia and staff. As Patrick Barbier, of Doctors Without Borders, told one newspaper: "It is clear that the necessary steps to protect the displaced population from violence and sexual exploitation have not been followed."

Indeed, the international operation in Bunia, home to about 16,000 refugees, threatens to become another monument to U.N. paralysis and failure. Investigators describe a "significant, widespread and ongoing" pattern of abuse at the camp--an astonishing conclusion given that many women are afraid to report sexual violence against them. At least one senior official in charge of security in Bunia is implicated in the scandal, and U.N. peacekeepers allegedly have threatened investigators with retaliation. According to the Economist, a U.N. probe is even considering the possibility that MONUC has been infiltrated by "organized pedophiles who recruit their friends."

A UNICEF-funded book being passed out at the United Nations Child Summit encourages children to engage in sexual activities with other minors and with homosexuals and animals.

As the delegations to the summit remain deadlocked on abortion, international nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) that support the U.S. delegation's anti-abortion stance circulated copies of pages from a UNICEF-funded book given to delegates from Latin America that promotes sexual activity and abortion among teens in their countries.

"Reproductive health includes the following components: Counseling on sexuality, pregnancy, methods of contraception, abortion, infertility, infections and diseases," says the Spanish-language book, whose title translates to "Theoretic Elements for Working with Mothers and Pregnant Teens."

An accompanying workshop book produced by the U.N. Children's Fund (UNICEF) tells Latin American mothers and teens: "Situations in which you can obtain sexual pleasure: 1. Masturbation. 2. Sexual relations with a partner — whether heterosexual, homosexual, or bisexual. 3. A sexual response that is directed toward inanimate objects, animals, minors, non-consenting persons."

The book, which was distributed by the Mexican government with U.N. funding, suggests lesbian sex as an acceptable alternative for girls.

"Sexual relations with a partner: Here we should insist there is no ideal or perfect relations between two or several people," the book says. "The one that gives us the most satisfaction and that which is adopted to our way of being and the style of life we have chosen. This is why we encounter many differences among women. Some women like to have relations with men. And others with another woman."

UNICEF spokesman Alfred Ironside acknowledged U.N. funding for the book, but said it was produced by the Mexican government in 1999 and pulled from circulation "when the content was more carefully reviewed."

Mr. Ironside said he did not know how many of the books were circulated. "A very small number were produced — fewer than a thousand," he said. "It was pulled out of circulation when the content was more carefully reviewed."

"That book was a product of the Mexican government, supported by UNICEF financially as part of UNICEF's support to the Mexican government," Mr. Ironside said.

"We do everything we do in full agreement with the governments we support. We do not operate independently," he said.

He said the book was "intended as a training manual for people working with adolescent women to prevent teen pregnancy. That publication was a compilation of articles by different contributors and has a very clear disclaimer in the front that the views of the writers do not necessarily reflect the views of the United Nations."

The workshop book is being passed out by anti-abortion NGOs to persuade delegates from the large Latin American bloc of countries called the Rio Group to support the U.S. proposal to remove ambiguous language from the child-summit action document, which has been used in the past by U.N. agencies to promote abortion.

Delegations to the U.N. Child Summit remained deadlocked yesterday in closed-door negotiations over abortion and other hot-button issues that have held up final agreement on a U.N. action agenda to protect the world's children.

The U.S. delegation, praised by pro-family groups for standing firm to ensure the agenda does not sanction continued U.N. promotion of abortions, was attacked by NGO critics for a second day at an afternoon briefing, NGO members at the meeting said.

Douglas Sylva, an official with the Catholic Family and Human Rights Institute, called the briefing "an NGO feeding frenzy," in which the United States was attacked for its position on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict; arms sales to allies; the Bush administration's support of capital punishment; and U.S. failure to ratify the U.N. Convention on the Rights of the Child.

"The fact that the United States is the only country besides Somalia that has not ratified [the] child's rights [convention] is shocking," said Paula Daeppen, director in Zurich for the Federation of American Women's Clubs Overseas.

"We're supposed to be a moral leader of the world and child friendly," she said.

Rep. Sheila Jackson-Lee, Texas Democrat, told the meeting she applauded the administration's work to protect children from pornography, exploitation and "child soldiering." But she said she disagreed with the U.S. delegation on some issues.

"There needs to be flexibility on life," she said — an apparent reference to the administration's strong anti-abortion stance. A person close to the congresswoman, who asked to remain anonymous, said her remarks were intended to urge "more flexibility on family planning."

Abortion is not mentioned directly in the draft child-summit document, but UNICEF, which organized the 187-country special session of the General Assembly, and the U.N. Fund for Population Activities, interpret the ambiguous phrase "reproductive health services" to include abortion.

A senior Canadian negotiator told delegates in earlier preparatory meetings that the term includes abortion, prompting the Bush administration to start pushing for the alternate term "reproductive health care."

European countries, with the exception of Spain, along with Canada, Japan and New Zealand oppose the U.S. position. Muslim nations and some African countries also support the United States.

The Rio Group, whose delegations say their predominantly Catholic populations don't condone abortion, said there is no danger the term "reproductive health services" will be used to promote abortions in Latin America.

THE United Nations is investigating a report that a ship chartered for peacekeepers in East Timor is also being used to bring child prostitutes to the island nation, the organisation said today.

The allegations surfaced over the weekend in the Portuguese weekly Expresso. The Expresso report said UN personnel were involved in bringing girls from Thailand to East Timor as prostitutes.

"So far, some of the allegations are unsubstantiated," said Hua Jiang, UN deputy spokeswoman. She would not elaborate or comment further on the status of the investigation being conducted by the UN's office of internal oversight.

The same office investigated allegations last year of sexual exploitation of refugee children in West Africa by employees of more than 40 private aid organisations.

That report found the allegations largely unsubstantiated although they were raised in a report by the UN High Commissioner for Refugees.

Incredibly, the head of a British-funded charity is at the centre of this despicable trade.

The children, some as young as three, are snatched from their parents and sold for as little as L300. Some are feared to have been taken as child sex slaves. Others are put up for illegal adoptions by couples, including Britons, desperate to start a family.

These three youngsters all live at a former United Nations refugee camp in Montenegro, part of the old Yugoslavia.

Posing as child traffickers, Sunday Mirror investigators visited the camp outside Montenegro's capital of Podgorica run by Christian charity boss Sinisa Nadazdin to expose the sick trade facilitated.

He receives donations from the British-based evangelical charity Smile International and Catholic aid organisations which are unaware of his "sideline".

Nadazdin, 27, told our reporter: "A hundred kids were trafficked from this camp...any of the children you see here are up for sale... I am willing to do it because of my finances."

The camp was set up by the United Nations after the 1999 Kosovo war and now houses 5,000 refugees in three units.

We were shown children for sale - from L300 for a dark-skinned three-year-old gipsy boy to L3,000 for a blonde girl of four. Nadazdin works closely with two gipsy mafia bosses, Vlasnim and Arton Shkreli, who "harvest" the best-looking ones.

Locals say the brothers use violence to rule the camps and force families to hand over their children before fixing false papers and smuggling them overseas.

Nadazdin said: "Arton has a really bad reputation and you are not surprised about anything you hear. He said about feeding sharks with those girls."

Despite admitting he was aware that children could be sold to paedophiles, Nadazdin continued to negotiate with our investigators. "Last year there was a couple from Liverpool who wanted to buy a child," he said. "The year before, some people from Scotland. We don't have set prices. You must negotiate. The price least is 500 euros (L300) for a gipsy. The maximum is 5,000 euros (L3,000)." He took us to see two children whose pictures he had emailed to us in the UK. We found Angela and Aco playing on a cockroach-infested floor with other children. Nadazdin said: "This is the best family for you to buy a child. They are desperate." Angela was on sale for e3,500 (L2,500). Aco was available for e2,500 (L1,500). Their destitute mother cried: "Sometimes I sell myself to give them bread. I don't want to lose my children."

But she was quickly silenced by 6ft 5in Nadazdin who said: "She doesn't matter. This woman has no choice. Vlasnim wants to sell Angela. No one defies Vlasnim. Not if they want to be safe. He uses the knife."

One of the gang's henchmen then made a cut-throat gesture to the mother.

Nadazdin, director of a local evangelical Christian charity called Philia, claims British charity Smile International has given him e2500 (L2,000) to look after children at the camp. On its website Smile, run from Orpington, Kent, by Baptist minister Clive Doubleday and his wife Ruth, write about working with Podgorica Pentecostal Church and of visiting the camp to distribute aid and show a religious video.

Nadazdin told us he hopes to persuade Smile International to help him set up a day creche - which he would use as a "child supermarket". He then showed us more children for sale, including Jovanna, four, who was on offer for 1,500 euros (L900). Nadazdin said: "Take photos. Any of these children is for sale if you like. Pressure will be put on the parents to sell - lighter the skin, younger child, more you pay. Black gypsies are cheapest - no one wants them." Nadazdin told us he also arranges illegal adoptions for cash. After leaving the camp we got a call from Vlasnim's brother Arton, pressing us to wrap-up a child-buying deal. He said: "You like Angela? She is 3,500 euros. But you must pay 1,000 euros deposit to obtain documents. If that is good, we see about more business." We claimed we were also looking for young girls to work in massage parlours in the UK.

Arton said: "We have children for more delicate business than adoption. Have girls of 12, girls of 13, girls of 14 for you. There are 20 available now. They are pretty girls, all of them. Some are experienced in movies, some have been on internet sites. You will not be disappointed.

"Don't wait long. I have other people interested."

When confronted Nadazdin denied having sold children from the camp. "That is illegal," he said. "But it's the right thing if a white person is buying a child." He admitted a paedophile could buy a child, but added: "I wouldn't approve."

This very same thing happened in Florida back in 1999, a guy who was a sex offender , very violent was released by a corrupt judge and given a court date, the guy then went out an killed a little girl.

To Be honest I think the Judge should be held as an accomplice to the murder, Because in both these cases, the incident would never of happened if the judge's never released these guys.
But God forbid your smoking pot, then you will surely go to jail and be in there for awhile.

It is a sad judical system when a non violent offender smoking pot gets thrown in jail for two plus years, meanwhile a couple accused of trafficking a child, underage prostitution, and crossing state lines, only gets 3 years probation an a fine.

I don't understand why this "man" was even given the opportunity to make the decision of going out into the world and creating another victim of his evil-doing. This could've - and should've - been prevented, ESPECIALLY since the authorities were quite aware of this man's history, and ALSO the seriousness and similarity of the charges he was currently being charged with. What about our fundamental right to life? It seems that in this case there was very much alot of carelessness.
My sympathies go out to this 16 year-old's family. The "system" should have been protecting her - as well as all others - from this violent criminal. We've all been let down tremendously.

This is of course sickening to all of us. Now, what can we do to get this to stop from happening over and over again? Is there anything? I agree with the person who talked about it the judicial system being corrupt, but I don't think there is anything we can do to change that. It has been going on since the beginning of time, I don't think it is going to stop anytime soon. I feel for these famiiles,how it must feel to lose a child, or have a child molested, raped, or both. I try so hard to keep my children under my wings, but I know there will be a time that I wont be able to do this, I have made sure to teach them not to trust anyone. I mean not anyone. Strangers are just that. Also, never go anywhere alone. It is very unlikely anyone will try to do anything to you if you are with others. We as parents have to teach our children the safety issues they need. Make sure to know where and who they are with at all times, too bad if they don't like it. I would much rather have them come home and be mad at me then to not come home at all.

Olá amigos e amigas, creio que temos que continuar lutando em todos os níveis contra a Pedofila. Sei, como vocês, que nem sempre a legislação em cada um dos nossoa países é suficiente ou mesmo protetora das nossas crianças.É importante acreditarmos no que as nossas crianças nos dizem a respeito do que acontecem com elas quando pedófilos, abusadores, esupradores, e gente desse tipo, se aproximam delas;como temos que denunciar sempre que soubermos que uma criança está sendo vitimizada sexualmente. Trabalho nessa área, e uma das maiores dificuldades que passo em meu dia-a-dia é quando o processo chega na justiça.
Pelo que vejo nos demais comentários parece que apenas eu me comunico em Português e leio mal em Inglês, mas vou insistir em continuar me comunicando com vocês. Um abraço.

This is so tragic, God help this family through this. It should never be a parent has to bery their child and definatly for a reason such as this. Lisa, I have as harsh feeling towards this as you and thank god, I have not experienced it directly with my daughter but I know several girls in school with my children which have had to live with this, Forgive and forget, There are just some things in life that can never be forgiven. I consider myself a person with strong faith in god, but sometimes the heart can not be so strong as to find forgiveness in an act so disgussting or horrific. These crimes against our children as well as so many others such as our children being stollen and sold or victumized in so many other ways just to fulfill the fat stomaches of the poloticians will unfortunatly continue untill we as americans grow a strong enough back bone to stand against the polotician and make them hear us. Due process, please, These so called politicians are there for us and yet do nothing for us as the people. If you break down the process of how these case go and how they are handled you will finsd a very similar and scary circle in our judicial system, and it definatly is not to protect us, it is only made to look as though it is. This cycle or circle is making them rich and killing our children and familys. The judicial system or poloticians have to keep this cycle going or they will be brought to there knees and made to make changes. However this will never happen as long as we fear what is supose to be our government, our law makers and our so called protectors or our rights. We have vertually no rights left other then the ones they allows us to feel we have. God give this family the strength to live and know this child is now in the caring and gracious hands of God. She will not suffer or be harmed ever again. You know the one thing so many fail to look at and bring to the face of these arrogant and controling law makers is, they say these preditors have rights, ok so they do, but so does the child, perhaps more hen he since they can not protect themself. Well this person wit rights has killed a child, viciously murdered an innocent with out remorce or compassion. So because the child is dead so are this childs rights? What kind of BS is that. That childs right should be even more so use to sentence this monster. I dont believe in the death penalty, I believe that is to easy of an excape. I feel a preditor should be forced to bear a marking, a mark which is not able to be hiden or covered. If we can make a drunk driver and make them visable to every one why cant we with preditors. Why do they deserve to live in peace and hide in the shadows. They need to be marked for every mother, father and child to know what this person is capable of doing. Why is a drunk driver more important to identify then a child preditor? There are more children violated and killed by preditors then killed by drunk drivers every year. Figure that one out. The government claims they care so much about our children and they are our future, then why do they allow for this and why dont they hear our crys and demands. This is one of the bigest reason there are not more woman in higher offices.

However it will never stop untill we demand and stand up to the poloticians. So many fear the government and it is a shame to, this is our government and we built it. These are persons which we put in office. But make judgement calls based on lies. So many of us have just given up and feel like you have said, "it will never change. Do you realize that putting all men or males aside just woman alone if all the woman, girls, grandmothers, daughters, sisters were to directly make a strong and defiant stand against the government they would have absolutly no choise but to listen and do something. Dont we understand our numbers are double with us alone. Now think if we were to have men, fathers brothers sons, grandsons standing beside us as well. What can they do. We have long forgotten this is our government, it is a government for the people made by the people. The government has striped us of more rights then most americans even realize. There is alot we can do to change this, We will only change it if we grow a back bone and make the change happen. Make the politicians listen and act. Tell me when did a polotician become above the law? If they arent then just using two examples tell me why is it Clinton was never made to face his charges and then more currently why is it ever an option that Bush would parton Libby. How have all the polotician walked away from their charges of rape, sextual assult, child malestation, and a few even murder? I am not attacking you and forgive my strong words, but people need to understand we can make change, it is possible, but it is not if all we do is talk about it, complain. We have to make uor government responcible for its actions ALL POLOTICIANS, including our own PRESIDENT.

BB and Lovebug, with all due respect, you are indeed, spamming this thread. The stories you bring up are certainly note worthy AND news worthy, so why not submit them as news stories, rather than spamming a related thread?
A few things that need to be pointed out, a JUDGE can only give out sentences that the laws dictate. If the law says the maximum penalty for crime "X", is 10 years, that is ALL the judge can legally give. What about the jurors? They too have a part in the sentencing process, but again, they are directed by the court as to which laws apply and can be used in regards to any case.
Sadly these cases happen more frequently than many people realize. The ONLY thing that can change this are harsher, more realistic and meaningful laws. If we want Judges to GIVE higher bails, no bail, longer or LIFE SENTENCING, WE have to push for laws that will ALLOW them to do so.
Help Change The LAWS That Allow Repeat Sex Offenders to Continue to Prey On OUR CHILDREN -

Lauren, It is to my understanding that a judge holds the right that in some cases, hanis case, tht they do hold the right to take the time recomended by the prosecutor or agreeded plea bargin and impose a more harsh sentence, They have the ability to increase the sentence at their discretion, given the crime is one so provocitive. Now does this tell us that the judges dont feel taking a childs life or harming a child or infant sextually is profond or hanis. The judges have the ability to over ride a sentence or add to a sentence. If I am wrong I stand corrected but I beleive this is true.

This is a terrible story and I feel very bad for the family. But, there is another side to this issue that most people do not know about. Dangerous men like this one need to be found and taken off the streets. But, there's no proof that these laws have been protecting children anymore than in the past (per studies done) But they are putting men who are not dangerous in prison for extraordinary periods or on the sex offender registry.
WHO’S ACTUALLY ON THE REGISTRY???
The truly dangerous make up between 1% and 5% of the total population (and growing) of people forced with the label and stigma of sex offender. Most do not deserve the label just as many who are in U.S. prisons don't belong there either. The prison system, esp. the Super Max system has become a for-profit business, which gives more political power to a state but also brings in additional funding. It is one of the main reasons that prisons are as overcrowded as they are. Crimes that in the past would have gotten a fine or short stay in jail now are putting people in prison for much longer periods.



MEN WHO ARE NOT DANGEROUS DO NOT BELONG ON THE SEX-OFFENDER REGISTRY

People on the registry (far too many innocent or not dangerous) have been murdered, committed suicide, had their homes set on fire, been evicted, lost their jobs,etc.. Who is on the Registry?
1. Romeo and Juliet liasons, false accusations of vindictive teens against an older teen (18 or 19)
2.False accusation by vindictive parents in child custody cases and/or family feuds- There are more of these than most people would believe. There are many reports of people who admit to having lied about being molested when they were younger. Now they would like to have the person wrongly convicted on their testimony set free.
3.mutual consensual sex- but being 3 yrs. and 1 day older than the willing teen (can bring and has brought multiple felony indictments)
4. Sex between consenting teen prostitute (who looks older and even may have lied about her age) with an adult male
5. Criminal charges that later are dropped for insufficient proof but not appealed in time, so still on registry
The number of true dangerous pedaphiles is relatively small. But check out the registry. You're liable to see people who look like your mailman, grocery clerk,etc.etc. And ones who look like they fit the profile could be the least guilty and vice verse. But the numbers are growing exponentially. And as long as politicians and the media can make hay (or reputations) out of this issue, it will breed fear and hysteria and ruin men (mostly) and their families lives who do not deserve to have this happen !
