As Lent approaches, many Christians and non-Christians alike prepare for the celebration of Easter by giving up something they enjoy as a sacrifice for Lent.It takes some serious willpower to keep from giving in to your temptations, but, as history shows,

First off, this picture is so beautiful and sends out such graceful vibes for faith in the Lord. Apart from the said give-ups, no smoking for 40 days, living vegan for these number of days, etc can also be thought of. Some things can be given up for 40 days of green! GO GREEN FOR 40 DAYS!
Noted with thanks.

This is soooo weird... I went to see what the other things were because fasting was obviously number one..I mean it has always been a time of fasting for Christians.. guess always was only until this generation. And what do I see... facebook, booze and bunnies.. WOW.

Guess its the same with Advent... used to be a time of fasting now its a chocolate calendar..leading up to the arrival of Santa..

I wish all my Christian friends well in deciding what they're going to give up for Lent. I live frugally... never taking more than I need, taking care of what I have and using it wisely, so I guess you might say that's my way of giving back to God and the earth.

I use to give up candy, it's really difficult to surrender something that's bad for you but is making you happy, like snooze buttons. You know you should get up but just 5 more minutes until you're late and swearing it's never going to happen again.

Best thing to give up is the religion itself. One word...one song...."Imagine"

Being in a place that celebrates Mardi Gras with such passion and suddenly takes a nose dive into Lent, I try to give up something that is possible. Used to be Coca Cola but I only last a week without my caffeine. So I try to be real and choose something that will make a difference. Last year I decided to make my first action of the day getting up and doing my Click to Donate sites (now has grown to 5). That has stuck with me.... giving up my caffeine until all my sites are done seems a better way to live.
