One of the nation's largest corporate bullies, Monsanto, has bought Xe, formerly known as Blackwater. Founded by a mercenary, XE has been implicated in several scandals in Iraq, and is known for its strong armed tactics!

It makes sense that they "bought" them, they've been doing business with them for ages...grrrrr...I'm sending this to my husband so he can get thoroughly irritated right along with me.

Thanks for posting. Although it sounds like a headline from the Onion, this is not funny.

If it wasn't obvious that Monsanto has been trying to hoard and control seed stocks and important crops, now they're going to be armed to the teeth and have their own militia.

Res ipsa loquitur...

There is nothing on either companies' website or in the financial news... Monsanto is publicly traded... I think this whole story is bad fiction!

It is correct what Terry says. Jeremy Scahill is the only available source of the information that this business transaction has taken place. I could find no other sources confirming it on the internet. Thus, it may be wise to wait and see if others will confirm this purchase. Nevertheless, if it is correct, I assume - when we include the connection there is between Gates and Monsanto - that we are experiencing a new economic power coalition between the billionaires and the corporations including them employing their own army ready to take control of society and nature on Earth. That is the end result of embracing neo-liberal political policies and neo-classical economics globally, both of which were introduced by US President Ronald Reagan and UK Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. The future looks bleak.

Of course it is always good to rely on more than one source. Like manyt people here, I summarize and link to articles I find interesting. It is up to the individual readers to do more research to determine what is and is not credible since even MSM reports falsehoods. This was reported in Pravda which is fairly credible IMO. The fact that it has not made MSM is not proof alone for me the story is false. Many things are kept secret, I am sure we are all aware of Project Censored, where blockbuster stories are not allowed to be published. On the other hand, XE and Monsanto are very sneaky companies. Perhaps they themselves leaked a false story to discredit their adversaries. Or minimize a truth, it has been well documented Monsanto HIRED Xe in their campaign against activists. But if all kinds of rumors flood the next, the public will question everything they hear about the relationship.

In any case, XE and Monsanto are two companies the public should be well aware of, since they both work against their interests. They are also extremely underhanded and immoral. If this story, true, false, or exaggerated raises public awareness of these evil behemoths, it is a good thing!

Here is the original article from a Mexican newspaper.
Some have said that the secondary articles did a poor job in translating, especially the first sentence. They claim that it did not mean it was bought and sold outright, but that Monsanto hired XE and its associated companies. Even in Mr Scahill's article; however, he mentions how Xe has set up many sub companies. So it remains to be seen if the corporation Monsanto has bought the company XE. However, a broader interpretation of that statement, that Monsanto was Xe's boss seems to be true.

Thank you for the information Gravitas. I checked the Spanish URL you refer to. My husband who is fluent in Portuguese and Spanish tells me that the translation indeed says that Monsanto has bought the services of Blackwater - hence not Blackwater itself. Anyway, that misunderstanding is not your fault, you are just the messenger.

I am still glad that you posted the information because as you say we need to keep an eye on Monsanto, XE, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and may I kindly add AGRA, Alliance for A Green Revolution in Africa, which was founded by the Gates Foundation and the Rockefeller Foundation. AGRA is paid millions to spread chemical agriculture in Africa. It is highly likely that this activity soon will include GMOs as well. This toxic technology will be a disaster for the fragile African environment and could have serious negative impacts on the health of the African people. Indeed, we need to keep an eye on what these people are up to. Hence, keep up the good work.

Should we suspect this loathsome corporation of taking Blackwater into its fold in order to do something so horrendous that they will need to protect themselves from angry citizens? Or have they come to realize that they need protection because of what they've already done? One hopes that this group of fiends will succumb to their own toxins and rot in their own filth, along with their government toadies and lap dogs who have legislated them into such a position of power one must fear them.

This is all over the Internet right now - fortunately (since Monsanto and Xe are both equally aweful) it's not true. The entire story is based on a story on CurrentTV - http://current.com/news/92727250_monsanto-now-owns-blackwater-xe.htm - whose only source was a misunderstood article in the Nation: http://www.thenation.com/article/154739/blackwaters-black-ops

The Nation article DOES NOT say that Monsanto bought Xe.

The Nation article says:

"One of the most incendiary details in the documents is that Blackwater, through [subisidiary] Total Intelligence, sought to become the "intel arm" of Monsanto, offering to provide operatives to infiltrate activist groups organizing against the multinational biotech firm."

That means they worked for them. Not that they were bought out by them.

"...According to internal Total Intelligence communications, biotech giant Monsanto—the world's largest supplier of genetically modified seeds—hired the firm in 2008–09."

"Hired by" is not the same as "were bought by".

"...Black added that Total Intelligence "would develop into acting as intel arm of Monsanto." Black also noted that Monsanto was concerned about animal rights activists and that they discussed how Blackwater "could have our person(s) actually join [activist] group(s) legally." Black wrote that initial payments to Total Intelligence would be paid out of Monsanto's "generous protection budget" but would eventually become a line item in the company's annual budget. He estimated the potential payments to Total Intelligence at between $100,000 and $500,000. According to documents, Monsanto paid Total Intelligence $127,000 in 2008 and $105,000 in 2009."

Xe is a mutli-million dollar organization. They were paid a couple of hundred thousands dollars to do some intel work (probably nasty and illegal stuff).

This is ALL OVER the Internet right now, all based on one piece of lousy reporting.

Of course there are many expressions of horror at the combination of those two evil empires, but words are useless unless they lead to action, to complete suppression of this thoroughly deleterious alliance. Will that ever happen though? The U.S.A. regularly spawns such plagues upon the face of the earth. They produce Almighty Dollars.

Yikes!!! I'm kind of glad this does not appear to be true! (at least as far as I can tell right now). I posted an article by Jeremy Scahill published in The Nation on C2nn about a month ago that does discuss the Xe/Monsanto connection. The article is called "Blackwater's Black Ops", and like Mr Scahill's other works, it's very interesting.

Yes Jeremy, we already assumed it was a bad translation from the Spanish article in previous comments. However, it is not all that much of a consolation that Xe only worked for them? Does it matter that the driver of the car who ran you over only rented the car vs owned it? Any relationship between two of the world's most evil companies is troubling.

It seems nothing can be done when the agenda has been set between Monsanto and Xe. Now that fact that the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation should be a part of the scheme is nothing more than insanity. They have connected to OXFAM that is on a campaign to feed the hungry in Africa with Monsanto seeds. As petitions went out both to the Gates Foundations as well as OXFAM not to deal with Monsanto. I believe they were through Care2, itself and I know I signed these petitions to stop the use of these horrible seed stocks produced by Monsanto. That is also why I am totally upset with the PBS system, that has cut many vital programming critical of these corporations. As Monsanto and the Gates Foundations are major contributors of PBS, we are not hearing any dissent as control is being consolidated fully by the corporations.

On the other side it was mentioned that we ought to know the purpose of Xe (formerly Blackwater), and it's purpose for working with Monsanto. It is not just for security, but for stopping anyone who gets in the way of their agenda. As scary as it may seem, we ought to be. They will actively seek out their opposition and especially organized groups who are part of the organic movement and environmentalists. The amazing part of all of this is that those in England who are part of Monsanto Corporation who won't touch GMO foods. They know of the questionable harm that these altered foods can do. Yet they continue their destructive ways in the promotion of these stocks.

Thanks, Gravitas, for posting this informative newsworthy message. Special thanks to Jeremy Scahill for his hard work and dedication for exposing the wrongdoings of these corporations. He especially puts his life on the line because he believes in the cause of stopping this horrible corruption. As he has uncovered many such corruption of Blackwater, it is now moving into a new phase of wrongdoings!

I find this picture of the Devil is exactly how that miscreant wants people to think he looks like. Interestingly though,, he is really a most beautiful creature and folks would NEVER think that a creature so beautiful would EVER be so evil. He presents himself as the World's greatest benefactor when in fact his agenda is the destruction of humanity.

Maybe, this presentation really does give some idea of how evil really works. Monsanto presents itself as the great benefactor of humanity and using Xe as it's "protector", does not leave much to the imagination. Quite a strong resemblance there between the devil and Monsanto methinks.

Well, this is not surprisinng seeing as how Monsanto gave the Viet Nam war Napalm! Then they seem to have decideded that burning farmers and the planet is even better under the guise of a more "benevilent" (do you notice that word "evil" appears in my spellling?) It seems that if we squeeze them one way, they ooze into another destructive methodology. I see from Jeremy that this may not be true and will delve further, however, it doesn't make me feel all that much better that they merely hired them to do "intell," in order to infiltrate environmental activist groups!

Monsanto won't be happy until they have all the food and Bill and Melinda want in on part of that monopoly. As for me, I'm a vegan and only eat local and organic, so Monsanto won't get MY money. They can go straight to hell and I'm doing my best to get them there fast. As for my computer, I own a Mac, so to hell with Bill Gates. He can join Monsanto :)
