BAN FRACKING IN NEW ZEALAND

Hydraulic Fracturing (Fracking) is a process used to extract gas and oil from deep underground. Fracking is disastrous for the environment and for peoples' health, which is why it is banned in many countries including France. Fracking is happening now in New Zealand even though it's proven to contaminate ground water. We must ban fracking now before irreparable damage is done to the underground fresh drinking water reservoirs that our country relies on for the health of its people and the prosperity of the nation. Fracking fluid is a mix of water contaminated with hydrocarbons and a cocktail of chemicals injected in quantity and under enormous pressure into deep drill holes to fracture the surrounding rock. Doing so creates faults between the water/rock layers and contaminates one of our most important resources; our water reservoirs. Fracking cannot be done in a way that is safe for the environment. It makes no sense to accept the environmental and health risks. Act now and help ban fracking in New Zealand.
