Stop Deer Killing in Cleveland Metroparks

To stop the bait and kill program for deer in Cleveland Metroparks.

While the problem of animal control can be a difficult one, especially with regards to those that can cause property destruction from grazing or simply trampling, killing should never be an answer. Sadly, Cleveland Metroparks have actively conducted a policy since 1998 which has sought to bait and kill deer under the guise of limiting their impact in the region and preserve biodiversity.

This is entirely unacceptable. There is no justifiable reason to attempt to cull large numbers of any species. To date 3,319 deer have been baited and killed by this program, including 577 in 2001 alone. There cannot even be the premise of a sporting act occurring as these animals are lured by practices that most hunting grounds ban outright. This method of baiting for the easy kill is not only barbaric, but also of no environmental benefit.
