|Koalas (Phascolarctos cinereus) are tree-dwelling marsupials that live in eastern Australia. These slow moving creatures eat the leaves of Eucalyptus trees, and come to the ground only to switch to another tree. Koalas are well adapted to their environment with two opposable thumbs on their hands to aid in climbing, thick fur to protect them from the weather, an extra-long gut to help digest leaves, and an adorable face which gives them high public approval ratings. Despite hunting bans, Koalas are threatened by deforestation and desease.|
