The Sulphur Crested Cockatoo is found almost all over Australia. Hated by farmers for the carnage it causes to crops, this bird has always been one of my favorite subjects for drawing. The Melbourne Zoo has a huge aviary housing various species of cockatoos, and there is always one idiot who's escaped, can't find its way back in and is clinging to the wire screaming for help. My special one belonged to a friend, and used to mutter "I'm a Presbyterian" to anyone walking past. It also used to pick the Basset Hound's teeth. - artist, Julian Smith.
