|In May 1997 I was fortunate enough to be flown in to a remote floating lodge on the West Coast of British Columbia to photograph grizzly bears as they emerged from hibernation and fed on sedge grasses along an inlet's shores. I had terrible weather for the first four days, and on my final day was rained out again in the morning. Lieing on my bunk just after lunchtime, I caught a glimpse of something moving on the shoreline beside the lodge. Within seconds I was up with my camera out on the dock photographing this beautiful young grizzly as it ventured out on the log boom beside the lodge to get a better whiff of the food cooking in the cook house. - photographer, John E.
