This photograph of a Partial Lunar Eclipse was taken on March 24, 1997 from Holly Springs, NC, USA. It was shot in the prime focus of an 8" f/6 reflecting telescope. An eclipse occurs when the Earth's shadow is being projected onto the moon via the Sun. The red-orange glow is caused by the Earth's atmosphere refracting that light from the Sun. -- photographer, Eric Honeycutt.
