The term "Orangutan" comes from "Orang Hutan" in Bahasa (the language of Malaysia and Indonesia) which means "Man of the Forest." These two tykes who live near Kuching in Sarawak (Malaysian Borneo) are "anak anak orang hutan", or "little men of the forest." They have been orphaned, along with others here at Semmongok Sanctuary, by poachers and hunters. Some have been wounded. When they recover or are old enough, they are sent out to fend for themselves and often must be chased away to make room for others. - photographer, Don Kornelly.
