The present day Annisquam Lighthouse was built in 1897. The cylindrical tower walls are 4 foot thick
with 33 spiral iron stairs up to the watchroom platform. The light is listed in the National
Register of Historic Places, and has been well taken care of over the past decades. Access onto the
property is only by appointment, since a Coast Guard family resides in the 198 year old house. The
present day keeper was very courteous during our visit in 1998. It was a very peaceful ending to a
busy vacation day.|
