Stream Through Forest, 1982. North Cascades National Park, Washington.
This is a re-shoot of an earlier negative I made at the same location. This negative is far superior to the first, both in terms of sharpness and overall values. The exposure was around a minute long on an overcast day. This long exposure blurred the motion of the water, and fortunately there was almost no wind to sway the trees. The print is very difficult to make, and I utilize a number of pin-registered masks in order to locally affect contrast in different areas of the image. My intention was to produce a somewhat "dreamy" quality.
