The flying fox bat prefers to spend its time in the rain forest's upper canopy of taller trees in "camps" of tens of thousands of individuals, but it can also be seen in swamps and mangroves. It is restricted to the northeastern wet regions of Queensland, Australia, New Guinea, and a few other small islands.
