This is a Live-Picture - a snapshot from a camera connected to the Internet.

If you don't see any Giant Hissing Madagascaran Cockroaches, either they've turned the light off to give themselves a little privacy, or they are doing what cockroaches do when you can't see them, or the camera has been temporarily turned off. If you don't even see a photo, wait a minute for it to download or try hitting the "reload" or "refresh" button on your browser. If you still don't see anything, try coming back later, or click here to view a recent image.

The cockroaches are located at Tim Mousseau's research lab at the University of South Carolina. Tim, who is the caretaker of the roaches, says "They weigh about as much as a mouse when fully grown. I used to try and keep a coin in the view for scale, but the roaches insist on carrying it away to a safe hiding place!"

The Giant Hissing Madagascaran Cockroach Cam image is updated every minute.
