Brother Andrew Shares God’s Love in Gaza and Requests Your Continued Prayers
Brother Andrew visited Gaza in late February to meet with Christian widow, Pauline Ayyad, and other believers who are living under terrible circumstances.

Pauline’s husband, Rami, was martyred in October last year because of his unwavering witness to Christ and his position as Manager of the Bible Society Bookshop in Gaza.

Pauline gave birth to a healthy 4-pound daughter on February 4 and named her Sama (Arabic for “heaven”), “because her father is in heaven.”  Pauline also has two sons, George, 3, and Wissam, 14 months.

Brother Andrew presented Pauline with a special plaque in memory of Rami.

“When they’ve grown up, it’s important for the boys and Sama to know why their father was killed, and to know that this terrible killing did not go unnoticed,” he said.  “Their father is a hero.”
Witnessing to Islamic JihadDuring his time in Gaza, Brother Andrew also made contact with the leader of Islamic Jihad and gave him a Bible.

“We must give the Word of God to these leaders!” he said.

“After I gave him a Bible I prayed with him, because shouldn’t there be someone praying with the leader of Islamic Jihad?”
Encouraging Suffering Believers Just days before Andrew’s visit, the tiny Christian community in Gaza was shaken by yet another bomb attack… this time on the YMCA premises. The building was extensively damaged and hundreds of Christian books were destroyed.

The continuing threats and violence create enormous pressure on believers, who are already suffering from electricity cuts, limited access to supplies, and damaged infrastructure.

“The condition of this small piece of land is miserable,” Andrew explained. “It had been raining for a few days and the sewer was damaged in many places, so stinking garbage was floating through the flooded streets of Gaza.

“And trash in the streets is only one problem they have to face,” he said.  “We need to pray for these dear people!”

Please do continue praying for Pauline and her children… for the Christian community in Gaza… and for the Islamic leaders in this volatile region. Your prayers really do make a difference!
