I read that S. Korea one quickly but it sounds like they wabt to shut it down and compensate the sellers/sadists. Why do they just not giv ethem new skills? Good news though once they get past the hurdles which hopefully they do. Livestock is such a detestable word. I think eventually the nightmare for dogs and cats will end as attitudes change and people die. One has to hope. It will get beter though.
I rmember Willow for the Hero dog awards . I figured either she or the other dog-darn, what is her name?- would win. It is such a treat to see them living happy lives (the other one died i know). Petition signed. Thank you Monika.
I now see the good news about China Dog Meat!
And here is an update on Korea:
Kookje News reported on March 12, 2019 that “Busan Buk-gu district has
commenced actions to shut down the operations of the Gupo Livestock
(Dog Meat) Market before Boknal (the hottest days of the summer).
However, it is unclear how effective this will be.”
Poodle Saved From Dog Meat Farm is Living the Best Life
When Willow was eleven years old, his guardians decided they no longer wanted the aging poodle and sold him to a South Korean dog meat farm for $20.
Willow was gaunt and covered in filthy, matted fur. His teeth were rotting out of his mouth. There were also cuts on his ears and his tongue was infected.
He was discovered at the farm by a rescue worker, Nami, who knew Willow was a perfect fit for her friend Heather Heath, an animal advocate who lives in Las Vegas.

Subject: For a legal ban on dog and cat meat in the UK
Dear Sue Hayman MP
dear Alok Sharma MP
dear Chris Williamson MP
Please support the ban of dog and cat meat in the UK by adding your name as a cosponsor to Giles Watling MP to the Clause “Prohibition on the human consumption of dogs or cats” to the Agriculture Bill.
Additionally, your support for MP Bill Wiggin’s private members bill, Dog Meat (Consumption) (Offences) Bill would be greatly appreciated.
The purpose of the dog and cat meat ban is to close all legal loopholes. The legal language in the Clause and in the PMB would specifically prohibit all acts of dog and cat meat consumption and trade; knowingly consumes, transports, possesses, or donates a dog or cat for human consumption. This ban would deter these abhorrent acts from taking place on UK soil and more importantly, having legal repercussions and enforceable laws in place.
A ban enacted by the UK would send the message that the UK government stands behind its constituents and just as importantly, a ban in the UK would in fact back UK’s own firm position against the cruel trade.
The UK had consistently spoken out and demonstrated its strong position against the trade, calling for the full protection of these animals.
On June 23rd, 2014, John McDonnell MP initiated an Early Day Motion (EDM 159) on dog meat trade cruelty. The EDM 159 was supported by an astounding 142 cross-party Members of Parliament, calling for the House to end the dog meat trade by working with government officials and local organizations abroad to raise public awareness and strengthen laws related to this trade. UK Government vowed to continue to raise concerns with countries that engage in these practices.
On November 5th, 2015, Robert Flello MP opened a debate on the dog meat trade in the House of Commons.
On September 12th, 2016 in Westminster Hall a debate took place on the South Korea and the dog meat trade in response to an e-petition with over 100,000 signatures.
In all initiative and debates that took place in length, the deep concern for the welfare of these dogs and cats were mutually and widely shared. The deplorable magnitude of torture, the inhumane treatment and barbaric slaughter of innocent companion animals were strongly condemned. Members of Parliament mutually agreed the suffering of these animals must end. The global efforts to support the countries fighting to end this trade from within, must also include setting the example ourselves. UK must back its firm position against the abhorrent trade by supporting its own UK ban.
This is a worldwide humanitarian and animal protection plea for the millions of voiceless dogs and cats in the UK and abroad. Please add your name as a cosponsor to reflect the voice of your constituents and stand proudly with other honorable members of parliament against this cruel trade.
In closing, we look forward to hearing your public position of support for the Dog Meat (Consumption) (Offences) Bill at the second reading on March 22nd.

STOP DOG MEAT TRADE IN INDONESIA…. BRUTAL SLAUGHTERING AND INEVITABLE RABIES DIFFUSION
The cruel and barbaric dog and cat meat markets in Indonesia’s North Sulawesi, are being encouraged as tourist attractions! This must be suppressed! In December 2017, the Dog Meat-Free Indonesia coalition conducted investigations at Indonesia’s “traditional markets” in North Sulawesi, including the notorious “Tomohon Extreme Market”.
Every year, millions of dogs are brutally transported throughout Indonesia to fulfill the demand for dog meat. WHO (World Health Organization) has declared dog meat to be extremely dangerous for humans as many of these dogs are Rabies Virus Positive. Read more

All have been signed. That is a pretty disgusting segment-what breeds they like. I knew about Golden Retrievers but on the whole it is a nauseating thing to see. I hate those who partake in this loathsome practice even more or at least as much as I hate Donald Trump who would possible eat dogs if presetned with them. The scale would be uncertain.
What dog breeds are used for food in South Korea?

60% of Koreans feel bad about eating dogs, so why is it that the
Korean government uses the excuse that there is no social consensus to
end the dog meat trade in South Korea? The frankly lazy, incompetent
and profoundly indifferent attitude of the South Korean government is
afflicting unimaginable suffering to millions of these sentient and
sensitive beings each year!!

I signed all and watched the video. I love the picture of the guy above holding the corgi. It must be such a mix of emotions to do those rescues all happening at once and yet there is probably not much room for any. How wonderful they will all have new and loving homes. Thank you Monika and Christeen.

- Some 200 dogs have been rescued from a meat and puppy farm in South Korea
- Animals kept in squalid and cramped cages, some with deformities to limbs
- The farm had been breeding dogs for meat as well as to be sold as pets
- Now the dogs will be shipped to North America to be adopted to new homes
video and photo series on the site! Have a look!

I signed most the other day but did the latest. They do look like miniature poodles. I hope they got rescued.
Very saddening pic...
This mother dog only wants to keep her puppies safe, warm and fed. But for her, every day is a struggle. She is emaciated and is suffering through the aching cold on a dog meat farm in Hongseong, South Korea.
If that isn’t overwhelming enough, this farm isn’t limited to one cruel industry. Not only does its operator sell dogs for meat, but the farm also functions as a puppy mill, housing other types of dogs who are for sale to unsuspecting customers.
The lines between puppy milling and dog meat farming are routinely blurred throughout South Korea, with dogs used in the two industries, depending on where the greatest profits can be made. The neglect, torment and appalling living conditions, however, are the same no matter the purpose of breeding them.
You can help. Please donate today to rescue these animals—and protect others suffering across the globe.
The dog meat trade does not discriminate, despite the local perception that dogs raised for meat are somehow different from dogs raised as pets. Peering out through the metal bars of this facility, I could see dachshunds, Chihuahuas and poodles like this mom and her puppies in addition to dog breeds traditionally thought of as meat dogs. All of them were shivering, literally dying for relief from utter despair.
Please, donate NOW to help save these dogs—to make sure no animals are ever harmed here again—and to support our efforts to stop this and other cruelty to animals.
With you by our side, we’ll keep fighting—for the animals used in these heartless trades and for those exploited in laboratories, on factory farms and in the wild. Thank you for your compassion.

HELP WITH ABBY'S LAST DREAM IN CHINA WHO DIED IN A SLAUGHTERHOUSE 2016
In October, with the help of generous animal lovers like you, Humane Society International rescued Fanny and over 200 other dogs suffering on a dog meat farm in South Korea. The farm was permanently closed, and no dog will ever suffer there again.
She was taken to our temporary shelter in Canada where she learned the simple joys of being a dog. There, she received oodles of love from our staff, playtime, veterinary treatment and nutritious food.
She has since been adopted and is keeping very busy in her forever home.
Despite her past of being locked away on a dog meat farm, you can see just how eager she is to celebrate her new life.
She loves playing hide and seek in the pillows, running with her sibling Mia, bath time, eating tasty treats, yoga, ugly sweater parties and even making the bed. We think it’s safe to say her daily calendar is packed and although she is not an early riser and prefers to sleep late, her mom loves every minute of extra snuggles in bed. Who can blame her?
Happy stories like this are the reason why we are working so hard to end the cruel dog meat trade across Asia. We know dogs like Fanny deserve a second chance at life, and every farm that we close together turns the tide even further against this brutal industry.
With you by our side, we can end the dog meat trade once and for all. Thank you for your continued support in fighting cruelty to ALL animals.
