2006 - My Quickening
Now that I've been prostrate to the 'higher mind' for a few (okay, many) years, I can better see where I do not fit. Yet, the path was necessary because the understanding of relation was necessary. Otherwise, I would have remained in a void of sorts. In other words, I exist in the world. If I am to change it, then I must know where I stand it relation to it. This is similar to the old adage "know your enemies," and supplements "know thyself."

So begins the next chapter: a voyage to India. This winter I will seek the caller and try to keep my mind unfettered so that I may discover her in her suchness. I will also have time for other journeys this summer. If you have any advice for a vision quest or retreat, please let me know.

Peace be with you,
Dustin

WHY INDIA?

"If I were asked under what sky the human mind has most fully developed some of its choicest gifts, has most deeply pondered over the greatest problems of life, and has found solutions of some of them which well deserve the attention even of those who have studied Plato and Kant, I should point to India.

And if I were to ask myself from what literature we who have been nurtured almost exclusively on the thoughts of Greeks and Romans, and of the Semitic race, the Jewish, may draw the corrective which is most wanted in order to make our inner life more perfect, more comprehensive, more universal, in fact more truly human a life...again I should point to India." Max Müller 1899

I will be keeping an online journal of my trip to India. Click hereto check it out.

About Me I believe we are all here for a reason. We should each analyze what makes up happy and is beneficial to the world, then carry that through to its utmost potential. I am a thrill-seeker, a deep thinker, a traveler, and a goofball. I want to change the world by first discovering myself. Fellow explorers of these universal realms, let us teach one another.

Wild Fact About Me I was once ran over by a tractor and unharmed. (that doesn't mean that it didn't hurt!)
My Philosophy is primitive. I have no way of knowing whether I am closer to truth or falsehood. School teaches me much, but most of my professors are worse off than I am. That leads me to think that it is not what you know but how you know. My best guess is that stagnation is the enemy, but that could derive from American hypercompetitiveness.
What Gives Me Hope also scares me. My philosophy is evolving. Technology. The Internet. Genetic Engineering. The fact that we have to learn to live together with the planet harmoniously or we will die. And we don't like dieing.
If I were Mayor, I'd make the world a better place by I would reduce the size and power of the government. I would set long-term goals for the preservation of nature and sustainability. Completely revamp the educational and reform systems. Make all donations public. Move towards an internet-based legislative process. And probably be impeached within the first week.
