~ The Pale Blue Dot ~

The Pale Blue Dot is a photograph of planet Earth taken in 1990 by the Voyager 1 spacecraft from a record distance of about 6 billion kilometers (3.7 billion miles) from Earth, as part of the solar system Family Portrait series of images.

The Voyager 1 spacecraft, which had completed its primary mission and was leaving the solar system, was commanded by NASA to turn its camera around and to take a photograph of Earth across a great expanse of space, at the request of Carl Sagan.

In the photograph, Earth is shown as a tiny dot (0.12 pixel in size) against the vastness of space.

Subsequently, the title of the photograph was used by Sagan as the main title of his 1994 book, Pale Blue Dot: A Vision of the Human Future in Space.

Wild Fact About Me
My Philosophy The Golden Rule: Treat others the way you want to be treated.
What Gives Me Hope Good and kind people
If I were Mayor, I'd make the world a better place by Mayor? Lol, I'm thinking bigger here, like a world leader or something. First I'd wipe out three-quarters of human population starting with greedy corporate creeps, corrupt politicians, people who harm other living beings and people who have no idea what it means to be human. I'd also destroy the current economic system and get rid of the concept of "money".

Quotation "I don't want to believe. I want to know." - Carl Sagan

"We all have a tendency to think that the world must conform to our prejudices. The opposite view involves some effort of thought, and most people would die sooner than think - in fact they do so." - Bertrand Russell

"The truth may be puzzling. It may take some work to grapple with. It may be counterintuitive. It may contradict deeply held prejudices. It may not be consonant with what we desperately want to be true. But our preferences do not determine what's true." - Carl Sagan

"Isn't it sad to go to your grave without ever wondering why you were born? Who, with such a thought, would not spring from bed, eager to resume discovering the world and rejoicing to be part of it?" - Richard Dawkins

"God created man in his own image and man, being a gentleman, returned the favor." - Jean Jacques Rousseau

"If all the insects on earth disappeared, within 50 years all life on earth would end. If all human beings disappeared, within 50 years all forms of life would flourish as never before." - Jonas Salk

"You must be the change you want to see in the world." - Gandhi

"I am a scientist. I never apologize for the truth." - Sheldon Cooper
