What I Want to Do:

My Page Billboard
My dear friends, I am so very sorry that I have not been around for...well, quite a while.  There have been many things going on in my life that I have had to deal with.  Some things were very pleasant, and some were not so pleasant.  Needless to say they were all time consuming!  I am hoping that these things are now resolved and I can go about living a normal (ok, semi normal) life again.  I do apologize for being absent and silent for so long.  I will be returning to activities very soon and hope to see you all on the boards here at Care2. Thank you all for the beautiful comments you have left while I was absent.  I hope that you are all well and are having a wonderful time!

We Survived
This was the time when the dragons roamed free
when across the land all you could see
was the wandering ways of the Gypsies who sing
of the ruthless sword of the Christian King.

This was the time when the wisest of the Clans
sent out the word across the lands
to hide thyselves and all thy do
Keep thine own council, and remember "to thine own self be true"

Let not his spies catch any sight
of poppet or besom, cauldron or spice
keep thyselves hidden in family and fold
his ways are cunning, his warriors are bold

He seeks to destroy us, everyone
from the oldest of mother's to the youngest of son's
Keep to yourselves the ways of the Ancients
remember them only in songs, stories and chants

Pass them down from Mother to Daughter
Father to son, remember the Goddess
and all she has done

Honor her ways and keep her Sabbatts holy
and let them all know, should they enquire,

by Gabrielle George

Today throught the misty blue it came
the awakening of my soul

It brought with it a reckoning
that seared me to the bone

It made me face my darkest fears
in its attempt to make me whole

It brought about the truth's untold
of a past I could not bear

It showed to me the pain I caused
to the ones I'd come to hold

It laid upon my grieving heart
the sins of my desire

It raked me 'cross the burning coals
to purge me with it's fire

It tore from me my darkest parts
and then in comfort came

It set my feet upon the path
having rid me of my shame

It showed me all the Goddess held
and showered me with her light

It wrapped me in a veil of truth
and gave me back my life.

If I were Mayor, I'd make the world a better place by implement Higher funding for education and provide legislation to give equal and complete medical care to all people no matter what their religious, ethnic, political, economic or social background.
What/who changed my life and why I'm not sure that I can pinpoint one particular thing. It was a series of events that opened my eyes. Becoming a parent was a major factor. Perhaps the most compelling event was the day that my then 5 year old daughter was watching the program "feed the Children" before school and stood there crying and asking me "Mommy, why don't those babies have any food?". That was truly devastating to me and really made me re-evaluate my life and goals.

There are strange and mysterious sounds
When the winds of winter blow,
The long nights are crystal clear and cold,
And the fields and meadows are covered with snow.
The stars are frosty against the sky,
And the wind's whistle is shrill,
As the snow blows against the house
    And drifts against the hill.
Yet, I like to see during the winter
A white carpet on the ground,
To plod aimlessly in the deep snow,
    where deer tracks abound.
I like to feel the stillness
    Of a crisp winter's night,
Watching a full moon rise over the horizon,
Exposing a winter wonderland beautiful and bright.
Blessings to you and yours on Winter Solstice
    Love Joan
