What I Want to Do:

How I Became an EcoPreneur

I'm really not a salesperson, so let me explain how I became an EcoPreneur for CitizenRe.  I've always wanted to get solar panels for my house, but I never could come up with the $20000 to $30000 it would take to buy them. So when I found out that there's a new company out there who will let you "rent" them, I had to look into it. The more I looked, the more I was hooked... this is really the coolest idea to come out in a long time!

For so long, solar power has been "too expensive" when compared to other energy options.   Of course, even with the tax breaks you can get right now, it's still far less subsidized than fossil fuels. PV panel manufacturers just don't have enough demand to enable them to get the economies of scale that it would take for the price to drop. And just to be certain that solar power wouldn't take off, oil companies would buy up PV manufacturers to keep them from being competitive with fossil fuels.

But this new offering from CitizenRe is a real paradigm-shift for the solar industry.  And the best part about it is that all the incentives are in the right place... at the grassroots level.  There are big incentives for the homeowners that switch to solar power to help recruit others.  And there are big incentives for the EcoPreneurs who are getting homeowners to sign up for this.  So I don't think this is something that the oil companies can stop, once the ball gets rolling.

For me, it was a no-brainer.  I was so excited about it, that I knew I would be spending a lot of time telling others about this amazing offer.  So even though I'm not a salesperson by trade, I decided to become an EcoPreneur and spread the word about this.
