4 Signs That President Trump Is Becoming More Dangerous

President Donald Trump is obviously†feeling the pressure of his office these days. The stock market plummeted, the probe over potential Russian collusion†draws ever-closer†to his family and the government†risks†shutting down for the second time in his very short presidency.

No wonder†President Trump†sounds more demanding than ever before. He’s argumentative, stubborn and even more divisive than usual. But now, even more concerning, he seems to be testing out his own power — and beware anyone who stands in†the way.

Here are five signs that President Trump is becoming increasingly dangerous — and putting all Americans at risk:

1. He wants a “parade.”

Have you heard of the musical†”Once Upon a Shoe“? It’s based on children’s nursery rhymes, and once†the characters’ problems have been solved, someone suggests that they celebrate by putting on a parade to prove they won. “All the world is your parade route all the world your audience,” one character sings. “They’ll give a cheer and then salute your eminence!”

The play was written in 1988, the height of the Cold War and a surge of American patriotism. And†ironically, here we are again — at least in President Trump’s world.

That’s why it’s no surprise that the president wants to throw a parade of his own†to show off American military might. But critics suggest that his demand for a military parade suggests he’s a little more tyrant than leader of a democracy.

“[T]his is yet more proof that Trumpís instincts are those of the autocrat. Little wonder that he wants to take the salute at the kind of military display more associated with Moscow or Pyongyang than Washington DC,” writes Johnathan Freedland at†The Guardian.

2. He’s pushing for a government shutdown.

The president is no longer even trying to negotiate on keeping the government open, claiming†he would prefer to see it shut down instead. His line in the sand? Closing off immigration.

ďIf we donít change the legislation, if we donít get rid of these loopholes where killers are allowed to come into our country and continue to kill … if we donít change it, letís have a shutdown,Ē Trump told a law enforcement panel discussing the MS-13 gang at the White House, according to Reuters.†ďIíd love to see a shutdown if we donít get this stuff taken care of.Ē

Maybe that’s just an attempt at good old-fashioned hardball business tactics in his world, but real lives lie in the balance — and you don’t get to throw a temper tantrum and risk widespread harm if you don’t get your way.

3. He’s using the word “treason” lightly.

According to the president, it is now “treason” if you do not enthusiastically embrace his policies. At least, that’s what he claimed when discussing†the Democrats who didn’t stand and clap for his State of the Union address.

“They were like death,” Trump said, according to NBC News. “And un-American. Un-American.” He added, “Can we call that treason? Why not? I mean, they certainly didnít seem to love our country very much.”

It isn’t treason not to “love the country,” and regardless, the Democrats obviously do love it, or they wouldn’t be so upset by policies dividing the nation and sending the United States into decline. But what’s more disturbing is how lightly the president bandies†about†the idea of treason — especially as he continues to embrace and elevate police, military and Homeland Security.

4. He’s stereotyping undocumented immigrants as “dangerous” and hurting “real Americans.”

The president has long politicized the NFL, criticizing players for taking a knee during the national anthem and protesting racial injustice, pitting them as enemies of the flag and veterans. But he has no issues with using an NFL player to attack immigration by calling out an undocumented immigrant who killed an Indiana Colts player in a car accident.

“So disgraceful that a person illegally in our country killed @Colts linebacker Edwin Jackson. This is just one of many such preventable tragedies. We must get the Dems to get tough on the Border, and with illegal immigration, FAST!” he tweeted†after Jackson’s death.

Using one case to represent all undocumented immigrants and push for deportation? That’s xenophobia at its worst.

You see? You are doing it again. I give up.

Just as a mental exercise, how about coming up with, say, three things Obama got right?

Annabel I'm just saying Obama promised to give us Medicare for All and to prosecute the corrupt bankers before he was elected, and he did neither. Obama had a Democratic majority his first two years in office, and could have passed Medicare for All if he tried. Instead he gave us a horrible Republican healthcare plan, that still allowed our criminal healthcare industry to rip us off. Healthcare is a big issue with us because we spend the most of any country, and get the least because our criminal healthcare industry rips us off. We already have Medicare for those over 65, so it wouldn't have taken long for Obama to come up with a Medicare for All bill that expands Medicare to everyone. Bernie Sanders put forth a bill for us to have Medicare for All, and it didn't take him long. It seems like your trying to make excuses for the horribly bad things Obama did like taking $400,000 for a speech from Wall Street as a reward for not prosecuting one banker. Sure Obama had a criminal do nothing Republican congress blocking everything he tried to pass, but he still could have followed through with some of his main promises like prosecuting the corrupt bankers, and giving us Medicare for All. Instead Obama sold out to Wall Street and our criminal healthcare industry like most politicians do from both corrupt parties. I support progressives like Jill Stein and Bernie Sanders, so I do more than just complain about our problems with corruption in both parties. I have

Who said your country hasn't got problems that need to be solved? Not me. Who said the DNC didn't behave badly over Bernie Sanders? Not me. Who said major corporations and Wall Street don't have an undue influence on American politics? Not me. Who says there's no corruption in both parties? Not me.
What I do say is that going on and on and on about it is getting you nowhere. You seem to need to go on stoking your own fires of bitterness and resentment ad infinitum rather than doing anything to improve matters.

Here's an example: if I point out that Obama spent the first years working on his health care bill, which is not something you can come up with over night, not imagining that he would lose his majority in Congress, you will answer that he took however many millions of dollars for a speech or whatever. That is, as Rhoberta says, you need to deflect any other view of what goes on in order to be able to continue to BLAME everyone all the time. Sorry Brian but this IS boring!

Annabel B Come to our country, and get our horrible expensive healthcare with the highest prescription drug prices in the world, and work for minimum wage and live in poverty, like millions of us do everyday, since you are so tired of hearing me complain about it. Maybe your attitude would change if you lived in our oppressive corporate controlled dictatorship.

Rhoberta E The Democrats cheat Bernie Sanders out of his primary, lie about the Nevada convention, have an unfair super delegate rule, and anoint this crook Hillary, which causes this crook Trump to be elected, and you don't care? Obama lies to us, and gives us a horrible Republican healthcare plan, and sells the country out to Wall Street by not prosecuting one banker, and getting $400,000 for one speech, and you don't care? I never said I want to criminalize everyone. Just the criminals in both corporate owned parties who have harmed this country. You simply reinterpret my words to fit your agenda, then accuse me of something I'm not doing. Your boring rant and false diatribe is really getting old. Why don't you grow up yourself? Corporations own both of our corrupt parties, and you don't want to discuss the corruption of both parties, that is harming our country? Even a 12 year old kid, has more common sense than you.
