Anonymous Mounties Threaten Force’s ‘Bad Apples’ With Exposure

A group of anonymous Mounties is fed up with the bad apples in the force that cause problems for everyone, and they say that Commissioner Bob Paulson is not getting the job done. The name of the group, the Re-Sergeance Alliance, comes from the honor of wearing the Mounties traditional uniform, the Red Serge.

The group, which claims to be approaching 500 members, sent letters to the media proclaiming that if Paulson doesn’t do more they will start naming names: ”… Your time has arrived and your corruption is about to see the light and justice of your fellow Canadians.”

The Re-Sergence Alliance says it is their mission to restore faith in the RCMP. They told the media that they would be posting investigative files on their website,, but as of the morning of August 16, the blog has been removed. The letter which claims that managers are paying lip service to Paulson and then failing to implement his most basic request has been cached:

The letter goes on to state that the force faces “corruption at the most disturbing levels” and “through our managerial conduct of literally covering up their crimes and demoting them upwards.” The Re-Sergeance calls on members to remember their oath to protect and serve fellow Canadians with “honour and humility.”

The most recent example of the problems the Re-Sergeance refers to is the case of Monty Robinson. Robinson was involved in the now infamous tasering of Robert Dziekanski, which resulted in his death, and was accused of perjury in that case. He was also involved in a fatal collision on his way home from a party. After the collision, Robinson left the scene, took his children home and admitted to drinking two shots of vodka before returning to the scene. He received a 12 month conditional sentence. Despite his past, Robinson left the force on his own terms, and his leaving saved him from any internal punishment for his actions.

The Re-Sergeance demands better:

“It’s time to stop fearing management, it’s time to stop fearing the media and treating ourselves as though we are better than our fellow Canadians, it’s time to stop the secrecy and lack of responsibility. It’s time for us as Canadians to rise to the challenge and take back the Force for our fellow Canadians and demand justice for them as we are better than this.”

The new Commissioner is on their side, saying that the Force cannot continue spending tax dollars to pay individuals unworthy of the RCMP, but it seems he has a long battle ahead internally.

Sandra K has obviously had bad experiences with the RCMP and clearly is aware of others bad experiences.
For a group of serving and former officers to 'blow the whistle thus, Sandra K's attitudes are vindicated.
Only by holding public officials to a higher standard of accountability and transparency can the erosion of public confidence be reversed.
Any public official who breaks the law MUST be penalized far more harshly than a normal citizen because of the damage they do to the reputation of the service, yes SERVICE.
This applies to all public servants and especially to corrupt politicians.
Root out the rotten apples before the whole barrel is contaminated.

More "brothers" need to cross the Blue Line (well, in Canada I guess it's a Red Line) and demand accountability from all their fellow officers. I've worked with martial artists and personal trainers that I've called out for their unprofessional conduct and inability to do their jobs safely and correctly, and LEO's have way more authority to either enhance or ruin (ie:end) your life. It's about time some officers are threatening to expose the corruption, malfeasance and illegal activities within their ranks, and I would hope this altruism spreads to the US, where it is desperately needed.

Ernest R...........I guess Sandra K. had me fooled when she called the RCMP "PIGS", "Violent","Disgusting liars". etc...........I don't defend ANY police organization that doesn't uphold what they are supposed to prevent.......The truth is, she WILL call the RCMP or another police force if she is in need or in trouble........Her post was angry and perhaps she thinks she has good reason to feel that way, but it is what we have and we ALL need to work for change.
