Celebrate the Cute! It’s International Dogs Tilting Their Heads Day

What are Fifi and Fido up to today? Better go ask them — perhaps in a funny voice or while shaking a favorite toy. It’s International Dogs Tilting Their Heads Day!

Photo website DogsTiltingTheirHeads.com highlights the curiosity of our canine companions and decreed June 29 as the official day to celebrate it. If you’ve snapped a pic of your pup looking inquisitive, you can upload it and share with the world! The competition is pretty stiff — er, “tilty” — though.

But as we take today to pause and smile at the cuteness, let’s remember the dogs (and other pets) with more to worry about than paparazzi. As many as 7 million pets enter animal shelters every year in the United States and the ASPCA estimates that 60% of shelter dogs and 70% of shelter cats are later euthanized.

Please spay and neuter your pet; according to the ASPCA, only 10% of shelter animals have been spayed or neutered. If you’re looking for a new companion, try adoption. Your new pet will thank you with a lifetime of love and adorable, head-tilting wonder.

Pugs are notorious for head tilting. This is just only one of their endearing traits.

If you care about animals, the best thing YOU can do to help them is not eat them.

YOU can protect and save innocent animals EVERY DAY by not eating them. It's YOUR choice, every meal, every day.

YOU decide whether to support torture and murder of innocent animals who think, feel, and experience fear and pain OR whether to support kindness, compassion, good health, biodiversity, and eco-sustainability.

It's up to YOU and it's as simple as that.
