Did Trump Collude With Justice Kennedy, Too?

Collusion Ė itís not just for Russians! In the wake of President Donald Trump nominating Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, rumors have emerged to suggest that a backroom deal might have been brokered to get Justice Anthony Kennedy to step away from the bench.

The theory is that Trump may have offered to appoint Kavanaugh, who un-coincidentally was a former clerk for Kennedy, in order to entice Kennedy to retire. Adding fuel to the fire, the White House did not deny the theory. On Tuesday, Deputy Press Secretary Raj Shah declined to respond to the allegations, citing that he was unwilling to discuss private conversations between the president and the justice.

NBC reporter Leigh Ann Caldwell wrote that her source says Kennedy didnít require Kavanaugh as the one option, but rather gave a short list of suitable replacements for Trump to select from. Being the most conservative choice on the list, Kavanaugh inevitably became Trumpís pick.

Caldwellís information seems particularly likely when you consider that Kavanaugh did not appear on Trumpís initial list of Supreme Court justices during his campaign, but was added on later after he met with Kennedy (along with a few other decoy names.)

Letís not forget that Justice Kennedyís son, Justin, has extensive links to the Trump family. From his position at Deutsche Bank, Justin even lent Trumpís business more than $1 billion dollars. Justice Kennedy later thanked Trump because his children have been ďvery niceĒ to his son. Thereís a preexisting relationship between the judge and president that deserves to be questioned.

If this kind of collusion did occur, it may not be illegal, but itís ethically problematic. A Supreme Court justice should not be selecting his successor, and the president should not be negotiating with an outgoing justice on a subsequent appointment. The judicial and executive branches are separate intentionally.

Then again, it might be collusion of the Russian variety that has Trump most interested in nominating Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. Despite being a player in the impeachment process of Bill Clinton, he has more recently written that presidents should be immune from criminal investigations and prosecutions Ė a tidbit thatís relevant in light of the Robert Mueller investigation still casting a shadow on this administration.

Itís fairly likely that, one way or another, something related to Muellerís findings will wind up in front of the Supreme Court. Having Kavanaugh on the record plainly saying that a president shouldnít be subjected to these kinds of proceedings has got to be music to Trumpís ears.

Regardless of what did or did not go on behind the scenes, the ethical thing to do is to avoid even the appearance of impropriety. The course Trump has taken is the exact opposite, and the American people yet again have reason to question the presidentís motivations.

The only reason the corrupt Democrats have their unfair super delegate rule that gives the incumbent over 400 super delegates before even having a challenger, which is cheating, is to keep Bernie Sanders from winning and ending their corruption, and the millions they make from Wall Street and corporations. The Democrats are so corrupt, they would rather lose to a Republican crook like Trump, than win with an honest progressive like Bernie Sanders. Their is no hope for the corrupt Democratic party, that has sold out to corporations and Wall Street.

After losing to the worst candidate in history, Trump, it must be depressing for the corporate fake Democrats here like heather, to admit that something is seriously wrong with the Democrats. Most of the Democrats are very wealthy like Diane Feinstein and refuse to support Medicare for all, marijuana legalization, free colleges, and a $15.00 an hour minimum wage because they are crooks like the Republicans. Their really is no difference between the corrupt two parties.

It must be depressing for Americans to know that there is so much corruption.
Other than Boring Brian, none of the Orange Peril's followers seem to know.

Mike Kelly Bernie Sanders also told the Democrats to end their corruption. The Democrats never did that, still have an unfair super delegate rule, still are blocking Bernie Sanders from having any power, and still are refusing to support Medicare for all, free colleges, a $15.00 minimum wage, and marijuana legalization. Votes must be earned, and the Democrats must end their corruption before people will vote for them.

No doubt..... this guy wasn't on the "short list", (or The Big Rump's long list for that matter), so obviously Kavanaugh's mentor's quick resignation had a lot to do with his nomination...... hummmm.
